Bruno Kirby : Rest in Peace Bruno, you WILL be missed!!!!!!!!!

While I am in the business, I never got a chance to work with Bruno Kirby, though I know some people who did. I was stunned when I heard the news today that he had passed a day earlier. Shocked, and saddened. Didn't I just see him on Entourage a few weeks ago?

He had so many unforgettable roles, such as Carmine's nephew in THE FRESHMAN, a very under-rated movie. And, I think he gave one of his better performances in WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. It goes without saying that he was perfectly cast as Young Clemenza in THE GODFATHER, PART II. He gave us so many great performances and so many great memories. And, from what I understand he was a good person, as well.

Bruno was a great actor and a true professional. He will be sorely missed. May God bless his soul.

I loved everything I ever saw Bruno do, and was pleased to see him on Entourage a few weeks ago. That whole thing with the Shrek doll was too funny. The funniest thing I remember tho, was about ten years ago on Letterman, they were making fun of some movie that was out at the time, and Bruno was playing a "cop on the edge." Every fifteen minutes or so he'd come out somewhere in the studio dressed up in some outfit with a cigarette or a bottle of scotch or a lighter and do something weird and then say "I'm a cop on the edge." I'll never forget that because I think it was Bruno hamming it up all by himself, completely unscripted. I also loved him as the limo driver in SPINAL TAP an early role b68and he totally nailed it. Bruno, sorry that you are gone so soon thanks for the memories.

i was watching ebert and roeper this morning and roeper mentioned that the guy from numbers, who is in looking for kitty (which was being reviewed) looked like the late, great bruno kirby. i was like, he's dead?

damn.

How sad the he died on the 14th I was just watching him in the Basketball Diaries the day before and was thinking what a great actor he was. I will truly miss him and I admire all of his movies and own every one.

I had no idea until today Bruno Kirby died of Leukemia. what a sad loss for us all. his performance in Good Morning Vietnam was stellar. Pretty much everything he did was great. Respect to his family.

I second that! I had no idea he was gone! I just happened to run across an "AMC Remembers" commercial paying tribute to all of the movie greats lost in 2006 and, found his name included in the pack. 'When Harry Met Sally', 'City Slickers' and, 'The Godfather II" wouldn't have been the same without him.

I had not heard of Mr Kirby's passing until just now when TCM did their tribute to those who passed on this year.


Growing up as I did in so many places, including a couple of years in NYC, he seemed like such a real person, someone I would know, and yet was a wonderful actor. He'll be missed by so many.

The movies you mentioned The Freshman, When Harry.., GodFather II, all the images he was in, i can remember clearly. In Frehman, he stole Matthew Broderick's luggage; in GF II, he stole a rug with Robert De Niro, in WHMS, he was a kind houseman with Carrie Fisher. Don't forget his role at We're No Angels (also with Robert De Niro)

Why so many talented actors passed on this year of 2006?

O h I can't believe it, I just finished watching Good morning Vietnam and rushed here to read about the movie and saw this page. So sad, he was a great actor and I wish his family my sympathies. A lot of great actors have passed this past year.

i was watching only yesterday the telecast of the 2007 SAG and was totally stumped when i saw Bruno Kirby among the faces of those who passed away. God! am i living under a rock?? as he's part of one of my all-time fave movies (WHMS) i feel like i know him so well. and yea, The Freshman is actually one of my underrated fave movies as well. but DAMN! it saddens me. he's such a talented wonderful actor! man. i can't get over it.. i HATE it when something like this happens. 'course, no one really knows when a person's "time" comes.. but it still breaks my heart when i learn that someone who means something to me has passed on.. unexpectedly. =<

I didn't realize he was gone until last night's Oscarsgreat actor

Niether did I and was shocked to see that he was no longer with us. A fine actor with wit as dry as a desert. I was surprised to see that although a fair time spent working in the industry, he was perticular in picking his roles, to which he did perfectly.
I remember his performance on the great Larry Sanders Show well. He appeared three times and was always being bumped on the show frustrated, agitated and angry he always fought back only to get bumped again!

Sadly gone but not forgotten

He who laughs last didn't get it

I was told yesterday of his death.

He was a great comedic actor- his delivery, timing, and physicality brought a lot to the party.

I'll always remember how great an addition he was to "When Harry Met Sally". His interactions with Carrie Fisher were deeply funny and memorable.

RIP Bruno- you will indeed be missed.

Very sorry to hear of his death -my favourite character in "Good Morning Vietnam" by far.

I really liked Bruno. He was a great actor and died way too young. His appearances in City Slickers are my favourites but he was versatile enough to have many varied roles throughout his career. Rest in peace mate - you are already missed but thanks for the memories.

Watching 'The Freshman' right now. RIP Bruno Kirby, a gifted character actor who went a bit too soon. Loved his bit part in Entourage, it's a shame that's the last time we'll experience his talent.

Holy crap, same here. I was reading a post on "Helter Skelter" when they mentioned he was a bit old for his roleand wouldn't get much older. Was thinking, err, what does that mean? Did he die? Came here and sure enough he died 3 years ago, I had no idea, he was a great actor for sure.

Had no clue he was dead. thats a shame.
