16 To the woman he said,

“I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
with painful labor you will give birth to children.(Z)
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.(AA)

Etiological myths are folk tales that purport to explain the origins of natural phenomena, traits, or customs, i.e., 'why the leopard has his spots,' or 'why men are in charge of women' (Genesis 3:16), or 'why human beings die' (Genesis 3:19; Romans 1:21-32).

The 'Eve' story was intended to uphold a patriarchal society where women were already considered chattel by custom, by pretending that God made it that way.

'Lilith' isn't from the Book of Genesis, but from Jewish folklore. She is intended as commentary upon women who do not follow the custom of being subservient to men; it's why she is depicted as a demon, as a wanton, a man-stealer, and a child-killer.

Fairy tales can be quite damaging, especially when people believe them. Nothing positive comes from the Adam & Eve myth.

Re: why women are so needy

Lilith is in the Torah the Jewish bible
That depends upon what you mean by "Torah" - the first five books of the Jewish testament (that's a no), or the entire Jewish testament itself, which is debatable, confined to a single reference, Isaiah 34:14:
The desert creatures will meet with hyenas, and one wild goat will call to another. There the night creature (Heb. lî-lîṯ, לִּילִ֔ית)will settle and find her place of repose.
Several translations render that word as "screech owl," following the opinion of Rabbi Abraham ibn Ezra in the 12th century CE. The stories you've read about Lilith being Adam's first wife, who left him because he demanded she assume the recumbent position, or a succubus who stole mens' seed in the night, or a demoness which strangled infants in their cribs (the folklore explanation for crib death) - these are not from the bible, Jewish or otherwise. They're from a body of non-scriptural Jewish literature which include the Midrashim, the Talmud, the Alphabet of ben Sirach, and the Zohar. Most of the stories are from the Middle Ages.

Again, the stories are designed to reinforce a class of behaviors on the part of women as undesirable, to be discouraged.
