Captain Phillips : seals with parachutes

seals with parachutes

The seal team six that jumped out of the sky, parachuted into the sea, climbed into ribs, and finally boarded naval ships. Why didn't they just land their helos in the the ships to begin with? Or any of the less dramatic options I can imagine. Is this scene really practical?

Re: seals with parachutes

Why didn't they just land their helos...?
Because they weren't in helicopters. They parachuted out the back end of a C130.

Re: seals with parachutes

It's not only practical its pretty much the only way it could happen.

I know right?!? I've seen C-130s land on the back of Arleigh Burke Destroyers all the time! That scene was so stupid.

Re: seals with parachutes

The plane they jumped out of was probably much faster than a helo.

Re: seals with parachutes

They deployed directly from Northern Cyprus, hana

The plan was the fastest way to get there, and the method of insertion was the most practical, and least dangerous

Re: seals with parachutes

My take buna, the Ballsbridge is too small for helicopter land in nighttime, hana

Re: seals with parachutes

Ballsbridge was a Destroyer, so whether big or small… you will never land it the chopper, hana
