Horror : is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

i've always been intrigued by this movie bc the creatures look so cool, imaginative and magical and so much fun and they look like they'd be so much fun to play around with.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

I wish I could unsee that movie. It was fucking terrible! 🤣

Just because I'm not on THEIR side, doesn't mean I'm on YOURS.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

Meh, I thought it was mediocre. The sequel isn't much better and Ghoulies III: Ghoulies Go To College is a straight-up comedy.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

it always seemed like ghoulies is the best evil little creatures movie ever made bc of the way they look and the video box cover with one of them coming out of a toilet i mean this is priceless(the idea of this is priceless and so awesome such a good idea and also bc it looks so cool)and one of the coolest horror movie images i've ever seen.

the other reason why i think this is alice cooper did a poster with one of the ghoulies or 2 of the ghoulies that i still remember to this day which i saw on the wall of my cousin's house back in 1988. and if alice cooper likes a horror movie it is a good movie.

another reason i think these are great movies is bc they came from charles band's production company well the first one is anyway and one of my all time favorite films is produced by him, it's called troll.

and part 3 has to be a classic bc it was directed by jim wynorski who makes the coolest most entertaining and funny b movies. i'm sure it's a lot of fun and i'm sure it has a lot of tits. his best film that i've seen is sorority house massacre 2, it's hilarious, one of the funniest movies i've ever watched.

the ghoulies movies seemed like the best films of this subgenre bc they seemed like the most funny campy, not taking themselves seriously kind of evil little creatures movies which is the best way to make evil little creatures movies i think.

It was silly, that's for sure. More like a teen sex comedy than a horror movie. And I'm sure there were some tits in it but I honestly forget.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

you see that's enough for me to watch it the fact that it has tits in it.

there is a movie on tubi tv that is called something like the zombie and the coed. and it has something that i've never seen in a movie before. it has tits from so many girls in the first 30 minutes that i was amazed bc my gosh 2 girls show their tits in 2 diff. scenes which is a first.

i've never seen a movie that has 2 girls who show their tits 2 times, in 2 diff. scenes in a movie, i've seen one girl do this but not 2, so they broke a legitimate movie law with this.

also it actually has the main character, innocent, love interest for the zombie show her tits to guys; just pull her top down and show these guys her tits. this breaks a movie rule that is the innocent and virginal seemingly at this point in this movie main girl cannot show her tits in a casual and slutty way.

also even in slasher movies in the '80s or any decade the virginal innocent girl who is the final girl doesn't ever show her tits in any kind of scene, this is an almost always done this way rule.

and all this is just in the first 30 minutes. this movie is amazing. this is the first movie i've ever watched well the first 30 minutes of it and can call it a softcore porn movie masquerading as a horror movie.

i love teen sex comedies. the last american virgin(1982) is the best teen sex comedy ever made have you ever watched it? if not then you have to watch this movie as soon as you can. this is more important then you watching vhs.

lukejbarnett

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

i love teen sex comedies. the last american virgin(1982) is the best teen sex comedy ever made have you ever watched it? if not then you have to watch this movie as soon as you can. this is more important then you watching vhs.

Yes, I watched that film on cable TV way back in the 80s. I thought it was such a depressing movie. The first half is like a typical teen sex comedy, then it gets really dark and serious and the ending is harrowing. The poor sucker "Gary"! That bitch really crushed his heart. Misogynists would really love that film. It's well-made and definitely not a typical teen sex comedy.

Have you ever seen The Boys Next Door (1985)? It's about two teenage outcasts (Charlie Sheen, Max Caulfield) that go on a weekend killing spree in L.A. It starts out like a teen sex comedy (the first 15 minutes or so) and then gets dark…very dark…in no time. I highly recommend it.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

yes yes! i'm so happy and so satisfied and fulfilled that you watched the last american virgin which is the best teen sex comedy ever made. and there will never be a teen sex comedy that will ever be as great as this film.

it's so endearing and lovable and so epically great in it's story and characters that you can so relate to and love so much. and it doesn't ever age.

i watched this film for the first time from the recommendation of eli roth, director of hostel in an article i read online back in like 2005 and ever since then i have been indebted to eli for this recommendation i had never even heard to this film before then.

it has the best soundtrack for a movie ever, it's also timeless; the film doesn't age at all, bc even in like 2005 when i watched it for the first time it wasn't dated at all, so every teen will forever love it. it stands the test of time.

it's a forever enduring classic. also it stars, the main character is played by the actor who played my all time favorite friday the 13th movie series character teddy in friday the 13th the final chapter.

do you agree with me that it's the best teen sex comedy of all time? just know if you say no, i will be ready for a great debate which i will win.

depressing? that's why its such an important film its' not just a typical, sex, drugs, dating, drinking no consequences movie. it deals with real life issues that everyone has to deal with after aides like itching your crotch after having sex with a prostitute and possibly getting a sexually transmitted disease.

also it has more than enough nudity. it actually goes above and beyond the nudity requirement for a teen sex comedy. i'm referring to the main girl actress showing her tits in not 1 but 2 scenes! and even showing her bush in 1 scene. by the way i find it hilarious how in this very serious scene they so casually show her bush like it's no big deal.

it felt weird tone wise given it being serious to just showing her bush but that's one of the genius things about his film its unpredictable and i love how they went that far with nudity they just showed a girl's bush.

exactly, it's extremely well made. its actually more well made than it has to be given its a teen sex comedy. why did you say misogynists would really love that film?

never watched the boys next door. i can believe charlie sheen as a psychopath. i love when he plays serious in movies. i love him in wisdom in 1987. a movie where he plays a really small but memorable part. the main star is his brother emilio estevez and it also has one of the most beautiful girls who have ever lived, demi moore.

i highly recommend this film to you.

charlie sheen was a very gifted actor who could just as well play comedy roles as he could plays serious roles in movies. notice i said was, bc his career is over now bc of his controversy which lost him his sitcom. he also was too difficult to work with, a troubled genius as they say.

he'll always be one of my all time favorite actors bc of all the classic films i watched him in and bc of how lovable he was in these classic films.

lukejbarnett

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

it's a forever enduring classic. also it stars, the main character is played by the actor who played my all time favorite friday the 13th movie series character teddy in friday the 13th the final chapter.

Poor guy remained a virgin! He struck out with the girls in Friday the 13th The Final Chapter, too. lol

I prefer Shelly, the lovable loser, in Friday the 13th Part III.

do you agree with me that it's the best teen sex comedy of all time? just know if you say no, i will be ready for a great debate which i will win.

I dunno because I'm not a big fan of the genre. I've never even seen the Porky's films.

why did you say misogynists would really love that film?

Because the ungrateful bitch was just using Gary. His heart is destroyed in the end.

The film's message: It's OK to fuck around with women but don't ever fall in love with one of them.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

didn't you love him a lot in friday the 13th the final chapter as teddy like me? he was and will always be the most lovable character in this series as far as i'm concerned bc he was so cool yet so vulnerable and weak confidence wise, he was a talker but was all talk he talked a good game but didn't have game with girls.

which made him very lovable to me and very endearing to me. what i loved about him most though is how cool he is, his personality, the way he talked all cool and fun and funny with jimbo in the car with his machine and everytime he talked to jimbo he was so fun and funny in ways that none of any of other characters in this series are. he's an original.

i also loved when he tried to cool talk, get one of the twins to be attracted to him but it didn't work when they talked, when he was on the couch. i also loved it when after this didnt' work he talked to his stuffed animal bear like they were friends, this is so endearing to me. after being rejected by one of the twin girls he says to his stuffed animal teddy bear, something like "well it looks like we're going to be alone tonight."

i also loved when he said to jimbo, while looking at the 2 twins walking in the forest, "there are 2 of them and 2 of us." this line is one of my all time favorite lines in a movie. i loved i so much that i used it in life when i was in high school. i said to my friend when we were talking to his house after seeing 2 hot girls walking, this line. it was my tribute to this scene and line.

i also loved the part when they were about to go skinny dipping and jimbo says, "we have no suit." and then teddy looks at him confusingly like "what are you talking about dude, we have these absolute twin girl foxes about to strip down and go skinning dipping and you say this?"

i also love the part right after this when teddy gets excited about skinny dipping with hot girls and starts excitedly stripping his clothes off, getting ready to skinny dip with hot girls.

all these scenes are very special and memorable and mostly comforting to me bc of what they are and bc of the nostalgia of watching these scenes when i was 12 and when i was in high school.

do you remember any of these awesome scene with teddy?

i think we can learn to connect with our shared love, i know you love though you might not really admit it the friday the 13th films. so maybe you are not a fan but you love the '80s films. otherwise why would you bother watching them, all of them? if you didn't love them why would you watch all 8 of the '80s films?

i love Shelly in part 3. he is in my top 15 characters list. it goes something like: 1. teddy, 2. jimbo, 3. 4. tommy jarvis in part 4 and 5 5. samantha, 6. sarah, 7. 8. blonde twins in the final chapter, 9. brunette who sprays perfume on her pussy under her panties in part 2 10. kirsten baker who played hot girl who goes skinny dipping late at night then gets killed by jason in part 2

11. ginny, 12. chris, 13. vera, 14. shelly 15. violet, 16. stuttering guy in part 5, 17. trish, 18. paulie, 19. ted, black guy who looks like jimi hendrix in part 5, 20. reggie the reckless in part 5, and there are a lot more characters i love.

have you ever watched zapped! with scott baio? it seems to be a teen sex comedy bc of it's story element but i don't know if it is. my friend loves this movie.

lukejbarnett

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

didn't you love him a lot in friday the 13th the final chapter as teddy like me?

He was OK. "Love" is way too strong of a word to describe my feelings for any Friday the 13th character.

do you remember any of these awesome scene with teddy?

Yes, somewhat. You're a MUCH bigger fan of the The Final Chapter than I am, that's for sure!

i think we can learn to connect with our shared love, i know you love though you might not really admit it the friday the 13th films. so maybe you are not a fan but you love the '80s films. otherwise why would you bother watching them, all of them? if you didn't love them why would you watch all 8 of the '80s films?

Just because I watch a movie doesn't mean that I "love" it.
I might only like it….
I saw most of those Friday sequels in the 80s when I was younger. The only Friday the 13th films that I still revisit from time to time are Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4. The first 3 are my favorites, Part 4 is OK. After that it was all downhill (though I did enjoy Jason Takes Manhattan as a horror comedy but I've never felt the urge to rewatch it).

have you ever watched zapped! with scott baio? it seems to be a teen sex comedy bc of it's story element but i don't know if it is. my friend loves this movie.

I know of it but I've never watched it. Is Revenge of the Nerds considered a teen sex comedy? (Probably not.) I enjoyed the hell out of that film!

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

oh no, that's sad that you don't love any character in a friday the 13th film.

well, it is my all time favorite friday the 13th film and one of my all time favorite films. out of all the scenes i described which ones are your favorite?

i'm saying why would you watch all 8 movies if you didn't love them? oh, so you're saying you used to love the '80s friday the 13th movies when you were a kid?

huh no, revenge of the nerds is not a sex comedy. ha revenge of the nerds, pretty fun movie but mostly boring to me. the last 2 times i watched it thought it was boring the only time i liked it was when i first watched it when i was like 12. mostly the story was boring, nothing fun really happens except in just like 4 short scenes.

why do you love revenge of the nerds?

lukejbarnett

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

out of all the scenes i described which ones are your favorite?

None of those scenes were particularly memorable for me.

I like the scene when Ted's getting stoned watching the stag films and Jason's behind the screen waiting to kill him. That was pretty good.

oh, so you're saying you used to love the '80s friday the 13th movies when you were a kid?

I never "loved" all of the Friday films. Some were better than others. I really didn't even like 6 and 7 when I saw them. I stayed loyal to the series throughout the decade because I kept hoping it would get better, I guess, but it never really did.

why do you love revenge of the nerds?

I like it because it's a fun film. I first saw it during my freshman year of high school. It was a very popular film at the time. Every kid wanted to see it.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

i still don't understand why you don't love part 4. you expressed that you like the part where teddy watches a film that is an old black and white porn film on a projector.

what is it about this film that you don't love and don't like? it's the best f the 13th film. it's everything we loved about these films, it's a friday the 13th film at the highest level of quality in every place that we love about these films.

you mentioned that the only films in this series you like enough to watch again in the future are the first 4 films. but you said part 4 is not as good as part 1 2 or 3 to you why do you not like it anywhere close to as much as the first 3 films?

is it the fact that this is the first film that is a campy funny slasher film? or is it that it's not scary to you?

another one of my favorite scenes in this film is the scene you described i love the scene where teddy is watching those stag films on an old projector while laughing and smoking a joint. i love how he's having such a great time and and getting a lot of pleasure from watching those stag films.

and this movie even gives you more tits in this scene which is such an indicator of how great hits film is. i mean they already showed tits in 3 other scenes before this scene by 3 girls. so awesome how this movie went about and beyond the call of duty as far as giving us enough tits nudity in a slasher film.

you can see how special this film is to me. it will always be the most special film to me.

i love too many scenes to mention in this film. the whole movie i love so i love every scene in this film.

i love the part where jason throws the twin out her window. it was hilarious and always will be hilarious to me bc of the way jason's body in slow motion stays in the position of his hand and arm being out for so long while he watches her body land on the car is freaking hilarious man.

it's just hilarious bc of the way his body just stays in the same position of when he throws her body out of the window bc it's in slow motion, it's just so ridiculous looking.

also that kill is one of the best kills in this film series bc of what you see, you see her body fall on top of a car and crush the top of the car and then you see her slowly and audio softly fall on the ground and she dies instantly after she hits the car.

also it's one of the best kill scenes in this movie series bc it's such an awesome idea for a kill let's have jason throw a girl out of a window and onto the top of a car.

and it needs to be all in slow motion bc otherwise it would have been too quick, her falling on top of a car and then falling to the ground.

i find it hilarious also how he just has to kill her bc she happens to be close to his home in camp crystal lake. like he has no control over these urges of his. he has to kill everyone around his part of town.

don't you love the scene where jimbo gets the cork screw on his hand from jason he had been looking for and then gets stabbed in the face in a really gruesome and cool looking way?

why did you start to dislike the films starting in part 5?

really so revenge of the nerds was a cultural phenomenon when it first came out?

lukejbarnett

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

what is it about this film that you don't love and don't like?

It's basically this: Jason was no longer scary for me at that point. He became too predictable. He became a product. His mystique was gone. When he came back to life in the hospital morgue at the beginning of the film, I couldn't help but eye-roll and I was only 14 years old at the time. Still, it was a decent film (well-made, etc) and having little Corey Feldman kill him at the end was a treat.

BTW, Mrs. Jarvis was the only chick I liked in that film. Talk about a hot MILF!!

i love the part where jason throws the twin out her window. it was hilarious and always will be hilarious to me bc of the way jason's body in slow motion stays in the position of his hand and arm being out for so long while he watches her body land on the car is freaking hilarious man.

That's a perfect example of what I'm saying above. Jason was no longer scary and he was now being "funny", an entertainer, etc. The first three Friday films are the scary ones. Jason (and his mom) was a real terror in those ones! Part 4 was the beginning of Jason the Comedian. The franchise was "jumping the shark" at that point.

why did you start to dislike the films starting in part 5?

Part 5 wasn't so bad but it was still predictable (even though it had an impostor Jason). Parts 6 and 7 were the really insipid ones.

really so revenge of the nerds was a cultural phenomenon when it first came out?

Yes, for once being a nerd was considered "cool" or, at least, OK. Actually, Devo already proved that a few years earlier…but whatever.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

how do i explain myself about you thinking jason is not scary in the final chapter?

first of all jason isn't really scary in part 2 or part 3 either, so it's not like there is a big drop off from part 3 to the final chapter. that's the first point.

secondly, jason is only scary mostly bc of how he is directed in part 2 part 3 and part 4. so it isn't really bc of how he acts the part out in these 3 films. thirdly, he is kind of scary in the final chapter, kind of eerie. he has a presence to him in this film that is intimidating, human, imposing, and big and strong, so scary.

but yeah i get what you mean about the mystique of jason in part 2 and part 3 not being in the final chapter. there is a mystique to jason in part 2 bc of him being not shown that much at all in that film and when he is shown in the end of this film he looks really ragged, and weird and mentally disabled, kind of crazy, almost like a creature.

in part 3 he has a mystique also, the way he stands there in the scene where he shoots a harpoon gun at that beautiful brunette girl's eye is not human and kind of mysterious, it has a mystique to it.

but in the final chapter it's different but he still seems like an animal in this film, the way he stands there with his arm out looking at the twin falling on top of that car is inhuman like an animal. also the part when you see his face up close when he pushes that guy's face into the bathroom shower wall until he dies, crushes his face, he looks inhuman in that scene also.

also he looks like an animal and also he looks scary when he is in the final confrontation part with trish and tommy jarvis at the end of this film. so he's scary in this film, don't get it wrong, he's eerie and like off mentally in this film and very physically imposing.

you are not being accurate with saying he's not scary in the final chapter, and isn't mysterious and he doesn't have mystique in this film bc he has all these qualities just not as much as in part 2 and part 3.

only chick you liked in that film??? that is blasphemy. samantha, sam is one of the most beautiful and hottest girls who have ever lived. she has this girl next door, bc she looks innocent but unattainable bc she's so beautiful and so hot quality that is irresistible also she is irresistible bc her voice is so adorable and so hot sounding. she is really fun, her personality is vibrant and energetic as is her physical type.

sara is amazingly naturally beautiful in the most blonde pure bred way and so hot in a totally innocent virginal way and she has a fun, and cute personality.

the twins are the hottest twins and the most beautiful twins who have ever lived. they have the most fun, and adventurous personalities, they will give you a great time anywhere you are with them. their whole purpose in life is to please their man, they are like robots build to only please their man.

the nurse at the beginning who makes out with the funny guy axel in the morgue is one of the most beautiful and one of the most hot girls who have ever lived and she has a really fun and awesome personality.

so have i jogged your memory about how beautiful and hot, appealing, attractive, arousing and lovable these girls all are?

i love that you think tommy jarvis' mom is hot bc she' like 50 years old dude. i also love it bc i think she is hot also now even though when i was 12 i wasn't attracted to her at all.

i find this to be an intriguing phenomenon how i can not find a girl attractive at all when i am 12 but when i am 30 something i find her attractive. isn't this a weird thing how your perception and who you find attractive based on their age changes when you go from 12 to 30 something or 40 something?

also what happened to her character in this film? she just vanished, disappeared towards the end of this film, never to be heard form again, they never explained what happened to her. she was just in the movie and then wasn't ever again.

exactly like the tall, nerdy, redheaded guy in part 2. he just was in the movie at the camp ground, then he was in the bar, then he was gone, never to be seen again, they never explained what happened to him.

at least the dog in the final chapter left the movie for a reason which was believable, it jumped out of the window so you think it ran away from the house from being afraid of jason. but with the hot mom of tommy jarvis and trish you never are given an explanation of what happened to her exactly like the tall, nerdy, redheaded guy in part 2.

wow, i love how i struck a nerve with you, you got excited and you cared about what i said when you read me explaining the jason throwing the twin out of the window part in this film. what about him standing there in slow motion watching the twin fall on top of the car is funny or him being an entertainer? i only think it's funny bc i have a unique and different sense of humor to find the image of him standing there with his arm out in slow motion for a few seconds funny it just seems so silly and campy funny.

but they had to make it in slow motion bc it would have been way too quick of a death scene if it was in real motion. also it wouldn't have been iconic and legendary looking had it been at regular speed.

so yeah the kill scenes became more showy in this film compared to in part 2 and in part 3. maybe that is your biggest problem with this film. is this correct?

so will you ever watch this film again? you mentioned that out of this first 4 films you like all of them and you might only watch the first 4 ever again you said maybe you'll watch part 8 again but it's more unlikely than re-watching part 4 so will you ever re-watch part 4?

when you call part 5 and part 4 predictable um, what do you mean? bc all the films are predictable in that it's a person getting killed over an over again, it's a systematic killing of people, it has a formula.

also part 3 is predictable in that you know it is jason just like in part 4. so what is predictable about part 4 5, 6 and 7 that part 1 2, 3 don't have?

also why do you not call part 8 insipid if it's just like part 5, 6 and 7 in the slasher formula of a killer stalking and slashing young adults and adults systematically?

i absolutely love that you know that amazingly great song from devo which goes, "we're through being cool." this is one of the best songs ever made. creatively, lyrically, culturally, and musically.

do you love devo? i guess yes bc you love oingo boingo who is a very similar band to devo.

lukejbarnett

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

first of all jason isn't really scary in part 2 or part 3 either, so it's not like there is a big drop off from part 3 to the final chapter. that's the first point.

He was scary for me when I first saw those films at a young age esp. that scene in Part 3 where an unmasked Jason charges out of the house while helpless Chris (Dana Kimmell) sits in the canoe unable to move.

you are not being accurate with saying he's not scary in the final chapter, and isn't mysterious and he doesn't have mystique in this film bc he has all these qualities just not as much as in part 2 and part 3.

Meh, he used up all of his "mystique" in the first three films. There was nothing mysterious about him anymore in The Final Chapter except that he came back to life in the hospital morgue (and my eyes are still rolling over that one!)

only chick you liked in that film???

Yep, the others weren't my type!

but with the hot mom of tommy jarvis and trish you never are given an explanation of what happened to her exactly like the tall, nerdy, redheaded guy in part 2.

It's assumed that she was killed by Jason. The tall nerdy guy in Part 2 (Ted) survived because he stayed at the bar and hopefully shagged the barmaid at her place later on that night. There's no indication that he ever went back to the camp.

also why do you not call part 8 insipid if it's just like part 5, 6 and 7 in the slasher formula of a killer stalking and slashing young adults and adults systematically?

It was more of a straight up horror comedy, that's why. It didn't take itself seriously at all.

i absolutely love that you know that amazingly great song from devo which goes, "we're through being cool." this is one of the best songs ever made. creatively, lyrically, culturally, and musically.

do you love devo? i guess yes bc you love oingo boingo who is a very similar band to devo.

Yes, that is a great song!

Yes, I love Devo. Been a fan since childhood. I only like Oingo Boingo though.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

who is your favorite final girl in this series: ginny from part 2? alice from part 1? chris from part 3? trish from part 4? tina from part 7? maybe another final girl i didn't mention?

what was the main reason you liked this series? jason? or the setup, with it being on a camp or in the woods and the slasher formula? my favorite part of this series is the lively, lovable, and charismatic, special with their personalities characters other than jason.

ok so you thought it was stupid how he was brought back to life in a morgue somehow, is that bc they never explained how he didn't die at the end of part 3 or bc they never explained how he came back to life in part 4?

i mean they had to bring him back in part 4 somehow so why not have him come back in his morgue? that's the best place for him to bring himself to after what happened to him at the end of part 3, maybe he was just knocked unconscious at the end of part 3?

that song, that goes "we're through being cool" is in the movie heavy metal(1981). it's such a great film. it's animated, adult in situations, legitimate film. it has a lot of really out there and really cool imagery of mystical magical medieval like characters in futuristic settings. it is very well made.

and it has a great soundtrack from great rock bands of the '70s and '80s. it really is something you have to watch bc its like nothing you've ever seen before. its' ground breaking in it's visuals. oh and devo is in it, in their animated version in a bar scene playing this song

have you ever watched it?

oingo boingo doesn't have the amount of great songs that devo has. my favorite oingo boingo song is the song that goes "nothing bad ever happens to me." have you ever listened to this song? one of my favorite songs from this band is the song that goes "it's a dead man's party, who could ask for more." have you ever listened to this song?

lukejbarnett

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

who is your favorite final girl in this series: ginny from part 2? alice from part 1? chris from part 3? trish from part 4? tina from part 7? maybe another final girl i didn't mention?

Chris from Part 3.

what was the main reason you liked this series? jason? or the setup, with it being on a camp or in the woods and the slasher formula? my favorite part of this series is the lively, lovable, and charismatic, special with their personalities characters other than jason.

Jason and his backstory. Also, the woods and creepy atmosphere of the first three films.

ok so you thought it was stupid how he was brought back to life in a morgue somehow, is that bc they never explained how he didn't die at the end of part 3 or bc they never explained how he came back to life in part 4?

Because they never explained how he came back to life.

maybe he was just knocked unconscious at the end of part 3?

He had an axe through his skull. He was pronounced dead or else he wouldn't have been in the morgue.

that song, that goes "we're through being cool" is in the movie heavy metal(1981). it's such a great film. it's animated, adult in situations, legitimate film. it has a lot of really out there and really cool imagery of mystical magical medieval like characters in futuristic settings. it is very well made.

and it has a great soundtrack from great rock bands of the '70s and '80s. it really is something you have to watch bc its like nothing you've ever seen before. its' ground breaking in it's visuals. oh and devo is in it, in their animated version in a bar scene playing this song

I've heard of the film and actually remember when it came out but I've never seen it.

"Through Being Cool" also appears on Devo's New Traditionalists LP (1981), it's one of the band's classic albums. The album also includes "Jerkin' Back n' Forth", "Going Under" and "Beautiful World" (a song with a very dark message, actually) - all are great Devo songs.

This song is just too cool:

and then there's this glorious song:

my favorite oingo boingo song is the song that goes "nothing bad ever happens to me." have you ever listened to this song? one of my favorite songs from this band is the song that goes "it's a dead man's party, who could ask for more." have you ever listened to this song?

My favorite Oingo Boingo song is "Only a Lad". Not sure if I've heard either of those other songs. I have their first album (Only a Lad) but that's it; anything after the first LP I'm not that familiar with.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

oh wow, she's my favorite final girl of this series also. so we finally have something in common as far as the friday the 13th movie series yes!

is part 3 your favorite movie in this series? what about part 1 and part 2? how are the first 3 films listed/ranked as far as in order of love from you? i noticed these 3 films are your favorite films in this series and the only ones you love.

did you have a problem with jason not being in part 5? i never did bc even though he wasn't jason he looked like jason, with his hockey mask on and he killed people in the same ways as jason and some of the best ways in this series.

so he was good enough to be jason to me, i didn't have any problem with him being the killer and jason not being the killer or him wearing jason's mask or him being an imposter jason.

this film has some of the best kills in this series. which means they are highly creative, unique, and very cool looking.

you see for me jason wasn't my favorite part of this series in fact he was my least favorite character in this series, less loved by me than every character in this series.

now my friend has always had a problem with him not being jason and also he didn't have a problem with jason not being shown killing people in jason goes to hell. whereas i always have had a big problem with never seeing jason kill anyone in jason goes to hell. so for me i have to see jason or someone who looks like jason kill people in a friday the 13th film whereas my friend doesn't.

ok, are you living in fairy tale land or a disbelieving, denial world that doesn't follow the laws of logic and reality? everyone who watches slasher movies from the '80s on knows that there is a formula and rules about the villain that doesn't follow the laws of reality.

one of the laws is the villain no matter how dead they seem in a movie can always come back to life in the next movie without any explanation that makes sense in the real world. also it's really hard to kill the villain in a slasher movie which is another non reality following rule. also they might seem dead at the end of the movie but they will then not be dead, this is another rule.

so what happened to you when watching all the f the 13th movies after part 3? did you not know back then about any of these rules?

is that why you could never get past these things happening with jason, bringing him back to life for instance every time you watched any of the films after part 3 after the first time you watched them?

you could never accept these things happening bc of you not knowing about any of these rules of slasher movies the first time you watched all the films in this series?

when i saw them, devo in that first pic you put on here they reminded me of guys in the 1950s bc of their hairstyles. so i wonder did they pattern themselves after guys in the 1950s even though they didn't make music in the 1950s?

also the '50s theme came to my mind when i saw that pic of that, it looks like 1950s burlesque girl in the video link you put on here. she looks like betty page. whom i love more than almost any girl ever. so i wonder if one of their aesthetic was the 1950s aesthetic?

devo never got the credit they deserved. they were way ahead of their time back in the 1980s. i think of bands nowadays that totally ripped them off like nerd and daft punk and countless other alternative bands over the past 20 years.

i loved in the bit in the behind the music about "werid al" yankovic where mark mothersbaugh said about weird al's tribute song to devo, "dare to be stupid," "i wish i had been the one to make that song." so awesome, it's genius recognizing genius.

it's such a justice that their most famous song, "whip it" is possibly their worst song." bc pop music is clueless when it comes to what songs end up being "important" songs only bc they deem them important. out of all the devo songs i've ever heard that is the worst song. it's way too pop song sounding and way too simple to be that good of a song.

i love the song "beautiful world." yeah it's weird that it's called "beautiful world" and that it has such am upbeat sound bc yes, you're right the lyrics are very depressing and bleak sounding.

the part that really speaks to me in my so far miserable bc i've never had a girlfriend at 43 now life, is the part that goes "it's a beautiful world we live in, for you, not me." this speaks to me bc it's a beautiful world for other guys who have had a girlfriend but not me bc i've never had a girlfriend.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

is part 3 your favorite movie in this series? what about part 1 and part 2? how are the first 3 films listed/ranked as far as in order of love from you?

Part 1
Part 3
Part 2

in THAT order

did you have a problem with jason not being in part 5?

I suppose not. I kinda liked the twist at the end (him not being Jason).

so what happened to you when watching all the f the 13th movies after part 3? did you not know back then about any of these rules?

Maybe not…or maybe I was expecting something different. Part 5 at least had the impostor Jason. I dunno…maybe they could have had different killers in all of the other sequels.

In any case, I would've been fine with them just ending the series after Part 3.

when i saw them, devo in that first pic you put on here they reminded me of guys in the 1950s bc of their hairstyles. so i wonder did they pattern themselves after guys in the 1950s even though they didn't make music in the 1950s?

Devo was making fun of Reagan and Reagan era America with their "New Traditionalist" getups. The Fifties were often seen as a time of innocence and economic prosperity. Reagan's conservative policies hearkened back to the Fifties (fake innocence, anti-Communism, Christianity, "Mom, home and apple pie", etc). Also, Reagan wore his hair like that too.

the part that really speaks to me in my so far miserable bc i've never had a girlfriend at 43 now life, is the part that goes "it's a beautiful world we live in, for you, not me." this speaks to me bc it's a beautiful world for other guys who have had a girlfriend but not me bc i've never had a girlfriend.

Do you remember the user Yakko? You have some things in common with him. He would always go on about never having a girlfriend and he was big horror movie fan as well. I miss that guy.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

did you have a problem with jason goes to hell not having jason killing people in his body?

nothing to say about betty page? do you not know whom she is?

wish you would have told me about yakko a long time ago when he was on here bc then we could have connected in our misery of being girlfriend less our whole lives and gotten joy from our shared misery and hatred of girls.

No problem with the premise. Shitty movie though.

nothing to say about betty page? do you not know whom she is?

I guess not. Of course I know who she is. BTW, Yakko is a big fan of Page.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

you just don't get it. you don't understand or appreciate the enormity and specialness of jason goes to hell. this was the first film in this series in 4 years! it was a big deal. and it was the same producer of the original film, sean s. cunningham finally coming back to his beloved series and character and franchise.

this film meant the world to all fans of this series. it was a love letter to all the fans of this series bc of it's self referential lines and the trailer was so iconic and special bc it showed all these people who in the tradition of this series were going to get killed by jason(well we all though this anyway sadly it wasn't which is the worst part of this film.

the fact that it wasn't jason it was the soul of jason inhabiting the bodies of people who then killed people). it was a reunion with cunningham and it was the series coming full circle and coming to an end it looked like bc of the title.

now i have big problems with this film bc of the fact that we never saw jason kill anyone and he never really did and the body snatching idea was wrong for friday the 13th film but the beginning wtih jason and the fbi agents blowing him up was so epic and legendary i mean this is like what they would do at the end of a friday the 13th film with jason getting killed.

at a level of makeup effects and violence that we've never seen in a friday the 13th film, it was the ultimate scene, problem is it was at the beginning of the film not the end, it should have been the end of the film. but it still is awesome and very exciting.

also the ending is so epically great and so masterful with the action, makeup effects and ideas and visual effects. it is breathtaking and the perfect and best way to end this series. it's also magical with the sword and how he was drug down below the earth and into hell.

also if they can bring back jason as a zombie then nothing is out of bounds in terms of magical things so it was fine and realistic that they had body snatching and the magical sword and his heart being eaten by the guy and it doing something magical to the guy.

i love the idea of jason's heart being magically evil. i think that was a really creative and fresh idea.

i love the main character played by john d. lemay, who was on friday the 13th the series which is amazing and so awesome that he was on this series and in jason goes to hell. that casting choice was a nod to the fans of this movie series and the tv show.

also i love duke creighton played by steven williams who was in a film directed by friday the 13th part 2 and part 3's director steve miner titled house. which also has stunt work by future jason actor kane hodder who is in this film as jason. all these things together are so cool! i also love the cameo at the beginning by kane hodder, that was really cool and really unexpected and clever bc he played 2 characters in this film.

both jon d. lemay's character and duke creighton were such a great team and odd couple in this film with their vastly different personalities that they made this film great and without their characters this film would have been bad.

i love the line something like, "we're going to have sex and smoke pot." the winking to the conventions of these films way before scream by the way. so this film is way ahead of it's time in this way.

i also love the extremely graphic and explicit even when compared to the graphicness of the sex scenes in this film series scene in the tent, now that is a hot scene. it seemed so realistic and natural.

if you know who she is then how can you not comment on her? she is a legend and one of the most important people in the history of the entertainment industry.

her allure is beyond anything any girl ever created or had. she is a fashion and style icon whose completely original image inspired and influenced countless girls over the last 60 years. she remains to this day one of the most naturally beautiful and hottest girls of all time. up there with brigitte bardot, sophia loren, raquel welch, jayne mansfield, claudia cardinale, and monica bellucci, and al the other most beautiful and hot girls who have ever lived.

she to me is very special bc she exists in this very cult world, like cult classic movies, punk rock, alternative music, horror movies, and underground cult tv show classics. she's like a cult urban legend. so the mystery, allure, and fantasy of her images and who she was make her legend even more special, big and magical.

this film meant the world to all fans of this series.

I still think it's a dreadful film.

Because I didn't feel the need to comment on her. She's not a favorite of mine or anything.

I do own a Bettie Page mouse pad though.

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

…The Boys Next Door (1985)? It's about two teenage outcasts (Charlie Sheen, Max Caulfield) that go on a weekend killing spree in L.A. It starts out like a teen sex comedy (the first 15 minutes or so) and then gets dark…very dark…in no time…
I have always liked and been fascinated by this film. It doesn't really pull many of its punches and is a hard hitting look at juvenile anti-social behaviour and violence perpetuated due to dark up-bringing's. Its quite chilling actually.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

Its quite chilling actually.

I agree, it's a great film that never received the recognition it deserves. Caulfield's convincing performance is nothing short of chilling.

Nope. It's a strictly so-so Gremlins cash-in.

You've seen Guy Standeven in something since the man was in everything.

The Gate is my favorite

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

The gate is extremely underrated. Do demonic toys count?

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

Yes, and The Gate and Critters are far superior to the curd that is Ghoulies.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: is ghoulies one of the best lil' creatures horror films ever made?

Pretty sure Gremlins is better.
