Social atomism, maybe. 
America leads the world in social alienation, moral relativism, dehumanization and people who possess a completely selfish, superficial and materialistic view of the world. So is it any surprise that we produce so many serial killers and mass murderers? If all life amounts to is pursuing your own piece of the pie - and pushing aside the other guy in order to get that piece of pie - expect more mass killings, out of control Karens, road rage incidents, domestic terrorism, stalking, bullying, beatings and whatever other outrageous behavior Americans can conjure up to inflict upon themselves.
There are a lot of angry, lost and alienated souls out there and they're not getting the help that they need. 'Pull yourself up by your bootstraps' philosophy (thanks, Reagan) doesn't cut it in the real world either. People need other people to survive. They also need social safety nets. Unfortunately, America is lacking in that department. Americans by and large lack empathy and compassion. We've become isolated islands onto ourselves or whatever little circle(s) we happen to run in. American hyperindividualism has failed miserably. It's no wonder some people reach a breaking point and go berserk. Things are just going to get worse.

I don't believe we have more serial killers…I believe we are better able at identiify serial killers and therefore catch more than other countries.

I'll assume by America you are talking about South America. There are serial killers there who have literally killed hundreds and were able to operate for decades undetected.
