Watchmen : Who is the MAIN CHARACTER in Watchmen? (comic and movie)

Who is the MAIN CHARACTER in Watchmen? (comic and movie)

It's something I've been questioning. They all drive the story in someway; the Rorschach probably drives it most. Just curious which one you think it is.

I'm thinking it's Nite Owl II is more central than the others simply because he's the emotional line in the story. We first see him eager for a battle when someone breaks into his house (rolls up fist, but ends up being rorschach), we get that he's unhappy in his life without being Nite Owl, and he has the big change to becoming a crime fighter again, thus he has the greatest character change imo. Has a big part in the final battle. Makes the morally complex choice with the others. Loses a friend, gets the girl, etc.

I'm curious who you think it is. Or if you think they're all equal.

Rorschach is the main character. He starts the story off and finishes it. Although all the characters get their moment in the spotlight I think R is the most important. There would be no investigation into Comedian's death without him. Ozy's the "bad guy." Manhattan is the fall guy. The rest have parts but are there more to help move Rorschach's investigation along.
