When it comes to musicals, do you care about the variety of…

... the songs? The thing is that in almost every musical all the songs belong to the same genre. Yes, there are cases where the songs belong to different sub-genres of the same genres, but that's pretty much the same thing. Now, sometimes they add one song of an entirely different genre. Does it feel out of place to you? I don't think I've seen a musical where all the songs belong to different genres, but if there was, would you mind?

I would actually prefer that to musicals where all the songs sound the same and it all becomes repetitive after a while. I liked DREAMGIRLS overall, but I had a hard time telling the songs apart.

No. I care about the STORY, what the songs are singing ABOUT. The songs in a musical have to be somewhat similar, because they're telling a similar, unifying narrative story thread.
