My mom is Dutch Chinese-Indonesian lasting 700 years being from Indonesia. Genealogy tests and family contact, this way, revealed Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and Filipino or something. It's not real Indonesian, which is like 10,000 years old from mainland or other island Asia. 🐸
My dad's dad has ancestry in Ireland as late as the late 1800s. He has some amount of French and a lesser amount of German. We always thought he was all Irish. Not sure where from. He's from Northeast Pennsylvania, under NYC. They are a non-farming family.
My dad's mom might also be mostly or maybe around half Irish, but I'm not sure. I lost some of the family tree. She has ancestry all over Pennsylvania, farming family with Amish, "Pennsylvania Dutch," which I think is actually mostly Swiss and German and some Amish are in other states maybe in the Northeast of the US. She also has ancestry in New York state, not sure where. I used to think it was like less than 1% or so of mostly German and also French and to the least Dutch. Now, she said her mom was 100% Dutch, though I thought her mom's mom might be Irish. Her dad may have ancestry as early as the late 1600s in the US. It seems to be a German or Dutch side, at least in part or by large. I am quite sure when I was a kid or preteen she said we had ethnicities mixed in Europe, probably meaning the French and Dutch. So, it's popular to have late Irish culture from Ireland here in the US and also for a farmer to have a non-farmer spouse. I don't know if there's any English on my dad's mom's Irish side but is so, I think, on his dad's side, in part.
My last name might mean a ratlike animal, rather small or medium small, carrying a baby, I found, if from Germany. I couldn't find out, but German seems most likely. That's because if it's Norwegian it is from Wales, and if it's French it's from England. It was commonly thought to be very real Irish or English, but I don't know if real Irish exists. I don't know what else "Barrett" could be but does mean to be strong like a bear. To me, most teddy bears are worthlessly ugly and always have been that way.

Genealogy on different tests suggest Northern Italy (Swiss related at all?) many places in England, Scotland, Bavaria (Southeastern Germany) and some lacking. Of course, there is Ireland the largest. They don't label Dutch, I think, anyway, so far what I've seen, not sure what it was or in different tests, 2 that turned out good.
Also, the Irish are mixed with a little Danish on the Norwegian side, the Vikings.
