Henry Fonda : Was good in some films, but Sucked in quite a few too.

Was good in some films, but Sucked in quite a few too.

Of course he was good in 12 Angry Men, The Grapes of Wrath, and On Golden Pond.

However,

he also stunk up films such as

Jezebel - besides the lousy southern accent that comes and goes, he's hardly a man worth Bette Davis risking her life for

The Ox Bow Incident - Great movie in which Henry is the Weakest Link. I actually laughed when he pulled a gun on those poor ranchers--and other moments where he tried to act tough.

The Big Street - I enjoyed watching Lucille Ball treat him poorly because he was so annoying

Sex and the Single Girl He's so out of place in this comdey, it's pathetic.

Ash Wednesday - Looked like he could be Elizabeth Taylor's father even before her character undergoes yout 2000 h-enhancing cosmetic surgery!

The Wrong Man - Good story...but as for the lead, I couldn't agree more!

I disagree but your entitled.

A funny thing, Henry Fonda could have been the father of Elizabeth Taylor. He was only 27 when she was born.

Sadly, I also agree. Great actor, wrong part. I just didn't "buy" him as a jazz musician, any more than I could accept the cultured Dana Andrews as a soda jerk in the excellent film, The Best Years of Our Lives...

Re: Was good in some films, but Sucked in quite a few too.

You think he "stunk up" The Ox Bow Incident? Really? In addition to that being a basically perfect film, it's also one of Henry Fonda's best performances.

Re: Was good in some films, but Sucked in quite a few too.

I doubt that in Henry Fonda's life he encountered many people who used the term "sucked." Is that he best you can do?
