Classic Film : Von Ryan's Express (1965)

Von Ryan's Express (1965)

I remember first seeing this when it came out. My mom and dad packed us up in the car in our jammies and brought pillows and blankets, and we went to the drive-in to watch it. We were thrilled to see an grown-up film, and loved it.

In a rewatch in my 30's, I still thought it was pretty decent.

I'm watching it today, and I realized that I don't find Sinatra credible. I think he was hoping his "From Here to Eternity" notoriety would give his character credence, but it just doesn't do it. He just comes off an an unbelievable punk.

GREAT Movie!

I actually didn't like how at the very end though that Frank Sinatra's character got killed. I would have actually liked to have seen him reach it to the train and escape with all of the others.

I remember crying when I was little at the end.
