Requiem for a Dream : The last fifteen minutes
Re: The last fifteen minutes
You're right - it's like a frenzy and you're sitting right in the middle of it. I think it's one of the main reasons why this movie has had such an impact on so many people. That and the music...it's different from any other movie I've ever seen.
Re: The last fifteen minutes
Have to agree completely, he really nailed the feeling of the ending. My ex can't watch the last 15 minutes, she says it effects her too much.
Re: The last fifteen minutes
I felt nauseous during the entire third act. I had to pause the film twice to regain myself and breathe. Once after Marion has sex with Arnold, and again when Harry is first complaining about his arm to Tyrone in the car on the way to Florida. Never before had I felt this way while watching a movie. It was like a very slow-motion train wreck that I couldn't look away from.

Re: The last fifteen minutes
no, he just lost his arm.
Re: The last fifteen minutes
It was a mesmerising sequence. A perfect blend of editing, soundtrack and performance capsuling Requiem for a Dream's essence.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Re: The last fifteen minutes
he lost his arm, his "pride" (whatever he had left) because now he's walking around with one limb less, he lost his mom to pills/drugs, he lost his girlfriend to drugs (who now sells her body for drugs).
i guess he lost more than "just" his arm?

Re: The last fifteen minutes
I'm sorry but the mom lost the most. By far.
She's just a victim in all this. A victim of her social and emotional solitude first, secondly she's a victim of her solitude-induced TV addiction, but above all she's the victim of this crooked doctor who gave her the pills to begin with. She had no idea and never wanted or would have tried drugs, ever; she just wanted to loose some weight for crying out loud! Her fate is the one that really gets me every time... *gulp*
She totally deserved the oscar nomination btw! She should have won it too.
People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs

Re: The last fifteen minutes
Couldn't agree more. It was very harrowing, and I don't think I ever want to see it again.

Re: The last fifteen minutes
The last fifteen minutes of this movie felt like I was having a nervous breakdown. The scene with all four characters having meltdowns at the same time is some of the most intense scenes I have ever seen in cinema. Loved this film, but wow, it is a downer.
More like the last thirty minutes...
