I can't believe it's been 9 years almost to the day since I was there. 9 nights in Bangkok makes the…

I visited a handful of cities. Kanchanaburi was my favorite, we stayed there 9 nights, too.. It's where "The Deer Hunter" was filmed.

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

There's lots of nice places in Thailand Mort. Kanchanaburi is beautiful and where The Bridge on the River Kwai movie was filmed too. Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Pai are also nice places to visit in Western Thailand.

Isan is a wonderful place to visit and is huge to boot and so there is a lot to see and do.

I don't dig Southern Thailand very much, there's very little by way of Thai culture there after the tsunami had everyone displaced and replaced with fancy hotels

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

If all that is so beautiful why aren't more people showing photos of that rather than those two Asian women throwing a bucket of water at the camera man?

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

Because today is Songkran

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

Ah I see.

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

No, the movie was actually filmed in Sri Lanka.. I used to ride my motorbike over the Bridge on the River KWEI every night, after midnight, since the traffic died down, and max it out.. There were always late-night places to get food, and tables outside in the parking lot. And a LOT of feral dogs sometimes barking my way. I spent a week in Chiang Mai. About 4 days in Ayuttuhuya to see the ruins.

It seemed like Pattaya and the south was full of parties like in any fraternity. Oh, wait, under a full moon with buckets full of a mixture of alcohol and who knows what. I guess that never appealed to me. I was traveling with an English girl, while also playing drums almost every night somewhere, and trying to find a place to teach English, but after a month, it didn't work out, so I went to Europe on that trip.

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

There's still plenty to see in Chon Buri, you can't ignore the sex-pat community in Pattaya but Jomtien and further out towards Rayong to the South East and Naklua to the North West are perfectly working towns with all the good stuff that you won't see in Phuket or Koh Samui.

Last time I was in Thailand I'd noticed a lot of positive changes regarding infrastructure and so I hope to see it continue to thrive. It's a beautiful country with a deep culture and exceptional food

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

I might be the only guy to have spent an entire month in Thailand and NOT have sex.

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

Nah Mort

There are plenty of guys who can enjoy Thailand and not take part in the sexual aspects of that society

Probably not the majority of men visiting but it's a busy holiday location for a wide slew of reasons and there are plenty that don't want to visit the seedy underbelly which has potential dangers attached to it

Re: Sawadee pi mai!

I used to love chess until I played Stratego about 12 years ago, and haven't played chess since.
