House of the Dragon : Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
Re: Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
Agreed. Think people were getting a bit carried away with themselves.
House of the dragon had its moments, but GOT S1-4 was unbelievable. Totally up there with the sopranos, the wire, Breaking Bad etc
You know what? I might start a GOT rewatch rn

Re: Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
HOTD was really good in it's own right, but GOT had a much more solid range of characters and interwoven storylines to keep you glued to the screem. And, most importantly… Tyrion. It cannot be understated what a great character he was in the first 4 seasons, he simply took control of every scene he was in and commanded your attention. This was obvious during his Vale adventures, he hit his stride and as an actor you could tell he knew GOT was his bitch.
I actually just finished the 7th and best episode: You Win or You Die, which to me has the best scene of the season or even whole series in Cersei vs. Ned Stark.
It's been several years since I watched the whole series, but really got back into it recently and the books even more so watching tons of videos about Jon Connington and Aegon VI aka Young Griff, who is a major character in the books and non-existant in the show. After watching the early episodes of GOT now it becomes more apparent they did originally intend to introduce Aegon but cut him later for whatever dumb reason. I think this was the biggest mistake they made. It all boils down to them wanting to abbreviate the show long before it shouldhave finished. If they had stuck more closely to the source material it would have taken them 20 seasons to do the 5 books, maybe enough time for GRRM to catch up and output Winds of Winter. I think Aegon will likely actually become King in the books, to me he is by far the most interesting character.

LOL Jon Connington. He was a cool character - I can barely remember the books at this stage.
Have you done the audiobooks? Cheruth said she listened to them and they were good, but I think the narrator's dead now

You tried the white lotus btw? First show in a while that's stood out to me as genuine quality.
It's fucking weird but solid

The sex show about the people staying at a resort in Italy or something? I watched a couple episodes late one night a few weeks ago by accident but that's it. No idea what that's about, but the preview for future episodes looks like some kind of mystery or intrigue going on, no idea.

Re: Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
I skipped the first two episodes because I have already seen them so many times it was pointless even the rest of the episodes in season one all the important dialogue I was able to quote word for word even before they say it needless to say the strippers were very impressed by my performance!

Re: Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
HotD is a cleaner production, particularly the props and outfits, and the action looks better. Compare the tourney from GOT to HotD. That is no contest, HotD wins.
But the tourney from GOT is way more memorable. I rewatched The mountain versus Sandor fight so many times. I’ve rewatched Daemon vs pretty boy like 2 times. Better action but the story in GOT is just so much more engaging.
I’m not going to complain about HotD. It’s a good show. But GOT had a grander storyline to work with.
Cheerio.

I feel the same way. Going to rewatch both soon. Early in the new year.
Re: Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
HoTD is solid 7/10 HBO stuff; GOT is elite.

Re: Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
Game of thrones was pure cheese. Enjoyable, but cheese all the same.
Rewatch of season 1: Game of Thrones
So much of HOTD is an outright ripoff of GOT it's not even funny.
