Out of those 2, I'd have to choose Rigatoni. Sauce & such clings much better to it.

@ everyone thanks - I ended up getting both but used the Ragatoni - will use the Penne for something else.

Re: Quick! Ragatoni or Penne for baked Ziti?

does the rigatoni have lines? if not then it doesn't matter

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

Re: Quick! Ragatoni or Penne for baked Ziti?

Rigatoni has lines. I've seen some pennes with/without them, but "penne rigate," traditionally has them. Rigatoni is wider, and would probably allow more sauce to seep inside, and hold it. I don't think that I have a preference between the two. "Corkscrew" pasta is another one that holds thick sauces well.

Re: Quick! Ragatoni or Penne for baked Ziti?

then definitely the rigatoni

my mother always called corkscrew pasta Shirley Temples

Tonight I am make ziti with the meat gravy, and I’m planning to roast some peppers over the flames, and I will put on some string beans with some olive oil and garlic, and I have some beautiful cutlets that were cut just right, that I am going to fry up before dinner just as an appetizer, hana
