"Marvel's one masterpiece"
"If feels more like it belongs in the Zack Snyder DC-verse."
Does not compute.

Where was the second one? I remember when Chris Pratt told them to get in the fucking car but I don't remember any others. I thought PG 13 movies were only allowed one fuck.
Re: Marvel's one masterpiece
I thought Nebula mumbled one toward the end.

Re: Marvel's one masterpiece
It was fantastic. Saw it with my best friend before he moved to Florida and we agreed it was the best Guardians film. I didn't read any reviews before viewing and I didn't check rotten tomatoes so I had no expectations at all going in.

James Gunn delivers Marvel's best and now he's going to DC. Marvel's fault.

Marvel's one masterpiece
This honestly IMO doesn't even feel like it's in the MCU. If feels more like it belongs in the Zack Snyder DC-verse. While it's still a superhero movie, it isn't pure silliness and forth-wall breaking. The tone is much more science fiction.
The gags are pure James Gunn, like the security agent who had the "special" friend. It's mean-spirited but it's a line you can imagine seeing Peacemaker do.
There's so much symbolism here. There's the subtle irony of having a black Hitler-esque villain who wants to create the perfect species and kill the imperfect ones.
The animal testing scenes had emotional payoff to the core. I have never teared up at a Marvel movie before. No other Marvel film had emotional resonance like this one.
Rocket is not just a gag character anymore.
The only thing that would've made this better is a R-rating because some of the scenes would have more payoff if bloodier. But to his credit, James Gunn pushes the PG-13 rating to the core, especially for a MCU, which have always been kid-friendly and never pushed the PG-13 before like a Batman solo film. There are 2 F-bombs in here.
I hope they continue to make installments like this one.
9/10
