From my research tex watson, high on speed, wanted to do a copycat murder like the one bobby beausoleil did to gary hinnman so the police would think bobby was innocent, so manson, being the wise old ex con said "well take dark clothes, leave a witchy sign, take the old buntline revolver.. ". The girls wanted bobby back too cause they were enamored with him. Manson violated his parole several times stealing cars for dune buggies and having stolen credit cards but was sent free every time. He moved to the desert despite not getting permission from his parole officer. The inyo county police department beat cops were told to leave manson alone. They knew his group was going to do something bad, so they bided their time so they could stick him with a charge that would make hippies look bad and distract people from viet nam
