Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

thanks. i bought some during the lockdown on ebay for some of their movie parodies.

men are men and women are women.

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

Cool!

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

Looking through these old issues brings back memories for me. Growing up in the 70s and 80s, there was always an issue of MAD lying around the house and it was always hard not to get lost in its pages. The TV and movie parodies were my favorite parts but the other sections (The Lighter Side of…, Spy vs. Spy, etc) were great too.

Funny, irreverent and subversive - there was nothing quite like MAD Magazine at the time (except maybe National Lampoon). It made fun of just about everything that society and pop culture held sacred.

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

I still remember some of the songs

If we take the time to see with the heart and not with the mind, we shall see that we are surrounded completely by angels ~ Carlos Santana

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

Yes, they did some great song parodies too. Before Weird Al Yankovic, there was MAD!!

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

The whole damn thing is good.
Every issue.

I like it when they skewer politics and other goings on in society.

For instance, from a few of mine from the 80's/90's which is my era…

Baseball Vs. Softball
Breaking Down the MTV Generation
You're a Winner and a Loser
(If you just make it home to catch the opening of SNL you're a winner and a loser!)
The Ad Gullibility Test
Sneaky UPC Symbols
People Mag. Rejects
Celebrity Self Delusions
The Moral Majority Handbook
What If Superman Were Raised by Jewish Parents

Etc etc.

And my girlfriend likes the "Drawn out dramas."
Those are good too!

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

I missed out on the 90's issues. "What If Superman Were Raised by Jewish Parents" sounds very interesting! 😃

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

Thanks! I used to LOVE Mad Magazine and didn't REALIZE until sometime in the mid 10s that at that time it was still being published. I thouht it stopped back in the early to mid 80s. MOST SADLY and MOST UNFORTUNATELY it was a SHADOW of its former self. Its GLORY DAY were FAR BEHIND IT! I bookmarked all three and will download each issue just in-case they get DELETED!

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

I'm glad you're enjoying them.

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

Well, I haven't started reading them yet. But I did as I said (typed) downloaded them just in-case they're deleted later for copyright issues. If possible one should always do this since one doesn't know how long it will remain available

Thanks again!!

Downloaded!

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

Were these always in color? Or are these colorized? Or some color and others black & white? The SUCKY and SHITTY one I saw several years back was in color. BUT it was actually a montage of photos, NOT drawings. So sad and too bad. At least we have these.

I WONDER how much it would cost to get all three-hundred actual (not print-outs) physical issues?

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

There's more than 500 issues, not 300. Just the first 30 issues would cost around $35,000.

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

300 is only the # offered at Internet Archives from those links. Not the total #. After 300 they may all just be shitty, past their prime or glory days. I'm just wondering if they actually were in color or if these issues had been colorized? Or if some were color and others black & white?

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

The original 20 issues or so were in comic book format and in color. After that they switched to bw magazine format to avoid having to deal with the comics code.

Good, I thought I was mismembering (mis-remembering).

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

$35,000! TOO MUCH! Thank you Internet Archive and the person who put these issues there!

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

I would answer your questions but you are such a dick and you never reply to anyone when they do so forgetaboutit.

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues

I bought the whole set on CD ROM a few years ago

Totally Mad Every Issue of Mad Magazine on CD ROM including the special publications.

It came with a roll of toilet paper with Mad artwork on it.

And includes games.

You can probably still get that on Amazon.

Are you okay?

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

Back in 1979 when I went to camp I got their book 'Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions'. MOST SADLY and MOST UNFORTUNATELY I've since lost it.

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

Is that the same camp that you shared a cabin with CHRIS FARLEY?

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

, it's the ONLY overnight camp I've been. I also went to a day camp once years before that.

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

Was it fun?

Re: MAD Magazine - full issues…

, for the most part.
