I get the feeling that was the inspiration for this documentary- at least the overall mood of this documentary is similar to Blair Witch Project, but these people are serious cryptid/paranormal investigators or at least they want to be taken seriously. Some of their research is interesting to say the least.

A family of four was supposedly massacred at that location in 1982 by some unknown creatures - of course, the media made no mention of it at the time and local law enforcement never made any reports about it. Some people claim the massacre was deliberately covered up by the government to prevent a panic and that the government has known all along about these creatures. The story of the LBL massacre has been told and retold over the years with slight variations but no one has ever presented any actual evidence that proves such an event took place. Some people in the area claim the story is true though and that they vaguely remember hearing news reports on local radio stations about a family being found murdered there or seeing cleanup crews and people who looked like government agents in the area at the time.

Sightings of strange creatures and other paranormal phenomenon continue to be reported there up to this day and every now and then a hiker will go missing or a body will be found in area - of course, there are logical explanations for why people go missing in the woods or die in the woods due to exposure, hunger, animal attacks, etc. but there's always the possibility that something unknown is lurking in the LBL. In any case, it makes for interesting lore and gives the region an otherworldly vibe.
