Results: The consumption of sugary drinks was significantly associated with the risk of overall cancer and breast cancer. The consumption of artificially sweetened beverages was not associated with the risk of cancer. In specific subanalyses, the consumption of 100% fruit juice was significantly associated with the risk of overall cancer.
Conclusions: In this large prospective study, the consumption of sugary drinks was positively associated with the risk of overall cancer and breast cancer. 100% fruit juices were also positively associated with the risk of overall cancer.

Maybe not in those who are vegan.
We have reduced our chances of getting cancer.

Christina though is doomed.

She quite simply does not care.

Re: Juice causes cancer

Her other post was in regards to "naturally" squeezed juice though I believe.

Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Re: Juice causes cancer

Doesn't matter if it's "freshly squeezed" or not. Besides, unless she's buying the oranges and squeezing them fresh right before drinking it, it is not "freshly squeezed" in any respect. You can taste the difference. All that juice marketed in such a fashion is misleading.

All of this is an exercise in futility because juice in general is unhealthy, for anyone, but it's especially dangerous for a diabetic.

There is usually a expiry limit on freshly squeezed juice and how long it can be kept for. As long as there isn't additives to it, I don't see an issue, unless perhaps someone who does have diabetes and need to keep their glucose levels in check.

I don't often drink freshly squeezed juice unless I buy it from a stall and have right away. I have a juicer at home, but too messy to clean. Need to get one of those bullet ninja things.

Re: Juice causes cancer

If you buy orange juice at the store, you may lean towards the kind that advertises itself as “100 percent juice” and “not made from concentrate”. But have you ever wondered why every glass of it tastes exactly the same? That’s because the flavor of store-bought orange juice has more to do with chemistry than nature.
For industrially produced orange juice, after the oranges are squeezed, the juice is stored in giant holding tanks and the oxygen is removed from them, which allows the liquid to keep for up to a year without spoiling. It also makes the juice completely flavorless. So, the industry uses “flavor packs” to re-flavor the juice.

According to Food Renegade:

“Juice companies therefore hire flavor and fragrance companies … to engineer flavor packs to add back to the juice to make it taste fresh. Flavor packs aren’t listed as an ingredient on the label because technically they are derived from orange essence and oil. Yet those in the industry will tell you that the flavor packs, whether made for reconstituted or pasteurized orange juice, resemble nothing found in nature.”

Re: Juice causes cancer

I find OJ too acidic as it is and rarely buy it. Pineapple and fresh apple juice I find nice, especially granny smith with strawberry.

Everything is found from nature. How can it not be.

Re: Juice causes cancer

Belladonna, poison ivy, arsenic and foxglove are found in nature. Are you going to make a poultice and add them to a beverage of your choice as well because they, too, are au naturel?

PS: She's a DIABETIC. She should NOT be drinking JUICE.

Re: Juice causes cancer

Those things you mentioned have their purpose, but they are not used for juices.

It depends on the type of diabetes. Low or high glucose levels.

Do you drink freshly squeezed juice?

Re: Juice causes cancer

I never drink any juice. It's like mainlining fructose. There are slower ways to die, thanks.

A few decades ago, I did enjoy a very small glass of freshly squeezed OJ, but it had to be from an exclusive type of orange, very ripe, and I would squeeze them by hand when they were fresh, and squeeze just enough for a small glass for me and another, and that was it.

The taste is incredible. The stuff marketing itself as "fresh squeezed" is bogus.

As I've said, I haven't touched fresh squeezed juice in decades. Oh wait, unless you want to count a few glasses of homemade lemonade I've had over the years (maybe 3 glasses in total?)

Re: Juice causes cancer

Homemade lemonade is nice, especially with cardamon.

I don't judge fructose, it is a natural byproduct of the fruit. People read so many bogus things about health and what is best and can get lost and confued in the process. Sugar is sugar and I know I love it.

Re: Juice causes cancer

Sugar in high concentrations, in any form, is unhealthy. It's important not to get suckered in by the "it's all natural" marketing.

Re: Juice causes cancer

I take sugars in unashamedly "un-natural" marketing products and relish in it.

Re: Juice causes cancer

Obviously.

So does alcohol, but they're keeping quiet about that.
