If beskar is so durable, how can…

If beskar is so durable, how can if be melted over a furnace? The show kind of makes lightsabers look weak because it can't match the energy of that of the furnace they use to melt beskar.

This part just kind of really bugs me. If they wanted a anti-lightsaber material, they should've gone the George Lucas and JJ Abrams route where they take a durable metal and enforce it with a energy field travelling through the weapon. Or if they really needed to have a super durable metal, I wish they thought of a more clever or original way of utilizing it instead of melting it over a furnace. There's just so many questions this raises.

Well since Beskar originally belonged to Mandalorians, it is possible that they are the only ones who actually know how to destroy it (or make it melt over a furnace).

But they don't do anything special to the beskar except melt it over a furnace. Off the top of my head, if I wanted beskar to be this super durable material, my thought to portray it super durable would be something along these lines:

Give beskar in it's original fragment form as that's how all metals are discovered in mines. In small nuggets/fragments. Then to make material out of it, it has to go into a special engine. First they need to design what form they want the beskar to be in. Then after the engine is configured to mold the beskar into that form, it first gets put into the mold. Afterwards they toss a special powder onto the beskar to help it break apart, once the powder is completely depleted the beskar can't be molded anymore. Afterwards they close the mold and the engine gets turned on. You see lots of electricty, heat and light come out of the engine. While the engine is turning, hydraulic presses are being used to form the beskar into the mold. Then after a while the engine is done. The mold is opened and the beskar has taken shape of the form they need it to.

There you go. A far more elaborate process than simply melting it over a furnace. It makes beskar look really durable because clearly it took a bunch of different things all coming together to mold that beskar.

They honestly did not do anything special while smelting it, if they did they did not explain it at all.

Beskar is durable yes, but why would it still not melt after prolonged exposure to fire? The show made it look really quick but they only have like 30 minutes an episode, they gotta speed things up.

Is it said in SW lore that light sabres are completely useless against beskar? Or are they only effective if you dig it right in? Like really force it thru?

And yes, Boba did survive in the sarlac pit, essentially an acid pit, thanks to his beskar…..perhaps animal stomach acid is not as potent as man made flames?

If light sabres were completely useless againt beskar then the mandalorians would have likely wiped the jedi out in the war because sabers are the only thing the jedis use. ( I have read that the Mandalorians were surprisingly good at combatting most force powers with tech they invented )

I am certainly no expert in SW expanded lore btw, if i wrote this show this is how i would explain it. You have every right to question it tho. IIRC the show made it look like a quick smelting ( adding a sponge bob ' 7 hours later ' scene transition would have ruined it 🤣👍)

I'm surprised the creators of this show didn't realize Return of the Jedi itself gives a good explanation how Boba could have survived.

In ROTJ C3PO said something along the lines of "you would be digested in the Sarlacc's stomach for a thousand years". If that's the case, than logically the Sarlacc's stomach acid has to be very mild in order to take a thousand years to digest something.

Also the mandalorian armour protecting people from being digested doesn't make sense in my book because not all of the mandalorian is armoured. There's actually a lot of exposed areas on their body.

LOL I actually would take that as a more proper explanation. Honestly I think Dave Feloni or Jon Favreau just didn't think it through or had a really bad imagination.

Oh wow, I have no idea why I didn't respond back, but no she did not have a arc generation. Nope. She literally only uses this furnace that has a ring of blow torch flames around it. Here's the scene in question and beskar looks like it's melting in real time.


Makes me think maybe the enemy should be using blow torches instead of blasters to kill Pedro.

I don't know why it is a problem. All metals including titanium are made like that yet I know titanium is very tough especially at heat.

Well the problem is now is makes lightsabers look weak that they can't match the heat of blowtorches and a furnace.
