Leave It to Beaver : Hugh seemed a bit verbally challenged in regards to WARSHING!

Hugh seemed a bit verbally challenged in regards to WARSHING!

Whenever Hugh tries to say "WASH," it sounds more like he is saying "WARSH." He does this in more than one episode.

Every time Hugh does this, I find it to be very odd & distracting and I wonder what is wrong with him.

They should have directed him better and told him that there is no "r" in the word "wash" and to say it properly.

Re: Hugh seemed a bit verbally challenged in regards to WARSHING!

I knew a woman from Indiana who said "warshing" for "washing." Maybe it's a Hoosier thing.

Re: Hugh seemed a bit verbally challenged in regards to WARSHING!

But no matter where someone is from, there is still no 'r' in wash, warshing is still wrong, and they still should have directed Hugh to say it properly.

It's a regionalism. I think it adds to the homespun charm of the show. Would you have wanted to clean up all the grammatical errors and southernisms on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW?

Re: Hugh seemed a bit verbally challenged in regards to WARSHING!

I like how Ward says "wash." I think it sounds more like "wush." In Perfect Father Ward asks June if she'd like to go fishing. I would have jumped at the chance.
