Yes they are. And you as well. All of you are very good at the gas light technique. You also gotta put others down in order to feel better about your lives. So when Dr Phil talks about how narcissists put others down in order to make themselves feel superior and therefore better about themselves, what he is really saying is that the narcissist person is also an OPPRESSOR. And that would you, Monicah, Nettie and Sophie.

You like to keep me down and make me miserable in order for yourselves to feel better about yourselves.


When Dr Phil says that the narcissist victimizes seone and then yells the victim that it is their fault, he means that narcissists blame the victim.

He suggests keeping boundaries but why should I be forced out of filmboards due to a bunch of narcissist trying to run this place.

I don't get how you would be considered a narcissist, Cheeky? Except maybe to the extent that all of us are narcissistic. A person has to be a little narcissistic. It could be called having a decent amount of self-esteem.

Starting a fight with Dr Phil now. People don't seem to like that guy very much do they.

I know some don't like Dr. Phil, but I've never had any real issue with him.

I think he's coming from a genuine space and he's not always perfect and I think he may have been a little exploitative at times, (ie: Shelley Duvall), but he's a good guy for the most part and I see him as a warm individual and honest in his representation.

I wasn’t aware of her issues either, but she needed private confidential care, not to be displayed on national t.v. and paraded before millions, because Phil didn’t seem that helpful for her.

I think he was also trying to get her to acknowledge that a drug addiction was likely the consequence for her disorder. That was cruel.

Duvall was an actress, used to being in front of cameras and of course would have lapped up the attention and rewards that gave as well.

When she was at a low low point, and Phil would have known she wasn't camera shy, he may have thought she may have liked the attention he was giving her like she used to get and that this may have helped her. It was the wrong sort to my mind.

Nice to know that she has supportive people around her. She really didn't make enough movies.

Technically he's a sociopath.

Its easy as an adult to recognize the signs and especially the gaslighting aspects.

I had a school chum who was a narcissist and I could never put my finger on his behavior and of course some people I worked with, and still do, but being able to recognize it now makes it a little easier to ascertain an approach to them.

My dad has used gaslighting techniques on me, but I'm not sure if that is narcissism, just him feeling sorry for himself and projecting his own insecurities because of his lack of personal growth and control issues.

I can't stand people who gaslight. It is the ultimate form of passive aggressiveness.
It's such a ****ty thing to do. I think my dad may have some of the same projection issues that yours does. Zero accountability. Grrrr….

My mom was a narcissist and my sister may be one, too. Though my sister is a much more sympathetic person than my mom, who was all "Boo Hoo! My life is awful! Cry for me!" Yuck. What these people do not seem to understand or maybe they just don't care is that this type of attitude and behavior absolutely prohibits any kind of progress. They just stay stuck. It's both very sad and incredibly frustrating, to the point of anger and resentment.

I feel with children and their parents, the same gender is going to display more traits of either their mother or father. I see a lot of my mother in my sister and that was the main role model she naturally emulated. It’s unfortunate, but in this case it’s simplemindedness and a lack of self-empowerment which has held them both back.

It’s like they have both buried their heads in the sand to avoid the truth of awakening and don’t often get nuance in the process.

I had to get away from my folks and since I left home I found it difficult to be back in their presence at times. Of course I have conditioning that was part of the process of living with them, but I for the most part had to find my own way and personal growth, and it wasn’t often in alignment with their own limited notions and insights.

I still am luckier than most though, the other stuff is just resentment that only I can let go of. They’re old and frail now and aren’t ever going to change.
