We could do that..
We could just give more power to the government.
Or we could take power away from the government.
Such as the powers they used to create the housing crisis in the first place. The taxes, the regulations all the schemes they employed to seize ever increasing amounts of wealth and power. Turns out that when communities must do for themselves they do fairly well. It is not the top 1% who are the problem. It is those who hold the reins of power. It is those who have made literal careers out of governing and politics. They aren't just rich themselves, they are gaming the system because they control the system.
