The Shining : Hotel only open 5 months closed for 7 of the year

Hotel only open 5 months closed for 7 of the year

I am unfamiliar with North American Hotels but this seems a bit strange to me.

I just watched this and didn't notice this on all previous viewings. The Hotel is open from May to September and Closed all October to April opening again in May.

This means a family is stuck in there for 7 months each year. And the hotel only open for 5 months each year.

This does not seem profitable or manageable at all for me?

Does the real hotel this is based upon (that forced the number chance from 217 to 237) only do this?

Re: Hotel only open 5 months closed for 7 of the year

Hotel or resort rooms are very expensive so I am sure that they made sure they would make enough to be closed that long.

$5 gets you the basic room but upgrade to $10 and you get clean sheets.
10 more gets you towels.
15 bucks will get you a BJ from a guy in a bear suit.
20 gets you sex with an old lady covered in lesions while 30 gets you the young and better looking hooker.
Etc. etc.
