Definitely. And if in the very unlikely event there is still a bit of life left, it will very quickly burn out 😂

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

My thoughts exactly.
I have already informed my loved ones that if any one of them buries me, I will haunt them all the days of their lives, and beyond.

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

This is slightly gruesome but I used to be a legal secretary in the wills and probate department and I remember someone once had it written into their will that their veins were to be cut before their burial or cremation (forget which one they were opting for!) 🔪

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

I wonder why?

Yeah but like I said before, at least you wouldn’t last too long! Waking up in a coffin on the other hand …

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

When I was about 18 and not sure what to do with myself after finishing school, I saw a job ad for an assistant at a funeral home so I applied. I had the interview and part of the job was to make sure the bodies were presentable if relatives were visiting but sometimes you have to get the embalmer in for a quick retouch because they are not looking so great. I remember the woman saying that sometimes it can be really creepy when you are alone and it’s winter and got dark early, etc, and I already knew it wasn’t the job for me 😂

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

Did you get to work any shifts or did you bail after the interview?

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

No, I don’t think I actually heard back from them! Maybe she could sense my unease in the interview 😂

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

😂

I wonder if working around dead bodies makes you calloused to death or if you appreciate life more bc you understand it's fragile.

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

I would think at the very least they become desensitised to being around dead bodies whereas most of us would be probably quite weirded out.

I did go on to working in probate at a law firm and so dealing with death certificates, referring to the someone as “the deceased”, informing various people and organisations of someone’s death did become the daily norm for me and I didn’t really think too much about the fact that someone’s life has just ended. I was always respectful with someone’s personal belongings though if there was no family or someone to claim them and would dispose of things as I thought best. Like there was this old lady who had died but had no family to give a load of old photos and letters to and so I contacted her friend who told me she was a very private person and so would probably not want the letters read so I ensured they were properly destroyed.

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

It's very sad to think some people die and all their belongings become trash. It's like they never mattered.

It happened a lot sadly, especially with older people who had died in care homes.

Re: Horror Movies Where The Bad Guy/Guys Win.

You just reminded me that I have a bag of old letters from the 1940s from a pen pal my mother had from France.

Not yet. I put them in a drawer and I sort of forgot about them. There's quite a few, near 50 I'd say.

I also have my grandfather's diary from the 1930s which is quite interesting, but heartbreaking too. He died at the young age of 42. Life was very hard.
