The Keep : Great film

Great film

Anyone near my age of 40 plus should dig this and its soundtrack and pop video styling, it has a great cast and is a perfect time capsule of the '80s, what's not to like ?!?!?!

Re: Great film

The film feels like the 80s but is set in the 40s. Some of the music doesn't really mesh well with what we see on the screen.

The casting is not too bad. Ian McKellan is poorly cast as Dr Cuza. I know that's hard to believe.

Glenn is not bad but not all that good, either. The relationship between him and Eva seems rushed and inauthentic.

The best parts of the film? The production and the evolving monster Molasar.

A major part of the problem is this movie? It is a disjointed mess. I have heard there was an original cut of this film 3 1/2 hours long. That I would be interested to see. Maybe there is a high quality film still to be seen. If Mann can ever get it put together.

It's an interesting mess. But still a mess.

Pluto TV has this on demand in nice widescreen and I've never seen it look better. Still, I can't rate it higher than a 5/10.

Make sure to read the F Paul Wilson novel. I think it is one of the best ever written.

I learned about sex from this movie

Re: Great film

This movie had so much promise and Tangerine Dreams’s score is amazing. I wish Mann’s original cut still existed, but it seems it’s been lost forever. Once the studio took the movie from Mann and cut it to shreds it was left with many scenes being unintelligible.
