The Wonder Years : Favorite Wayne moment?

Favorite Wayne moment?

Kevin is writing an obituary.

Wayne: Let's see. Kevin Arnold. Born a butthead. Lived a butthead's life. Died a butthead The end.

Re: Favorite Wayne moment?

Wayne (sound asleep, rolls around): Butthead!

Re: Favorite Wayne moment?

Wayne actually accidentally sucked the hamster into the vacuum cleaner. Poor little guy.

My favorite Wayne moment was when he was dumped by that girlfriend from high school who actually started to like Kevin, and Kevin finds him sitting on that picnic bench and they talk. It was the first time you really see Wayne reveal some of his insecurities. It's the moment the audience finds out that he's actually kind of sensitive...soulful...human.

Re: Favorite Wayne moment?

How can anyone forget the "mashed potato" moment where Kevin slaps a huge spoon of mashed potatoes against Wayne's face to which Wayne responded by grabbing Kevin's shirt and saying "Tonight, while you sleep pal!

Re: Favorite Wayne moment?

My favourite for funniest is the voiceover by Kevin, but in "Dinner Out" when Wayne suggests Jack go out for a birthday dinner so he doesn't have to have Karen and Michael in his house. "It may have been the most inspired moment of Wayne's long and abysmal adolescence."

I think my favourite Wayne moment, though, is in "New Year's" when he gets dumped by Bonnie and is in the the laundromat drinking. His speech to Kevin when he tells Wayne "I heard what happened" is really good. I think it's great acting by Jason Hervey. He could always be funny, but he was really good in a dramatic role in that one. "Homecoming" is another where Wayne shows a more mature side and you start to like him more.

I also like whenever he'd just state the obvious, with no tact. I can't recall the exact episode, but he meets Michael and says "So you're the guy shacking up with my sister, huh?" He's just oblivious to the discomfort he causes. He does things like that a lot, but that's fresh in my mind. Oh, I guess when they want the colour tv and are being subtle, but Wayne just blurts out "so, Dad, you gonna get us the colour TV or not?"

Re: Favorite Wayne moment?

When Kevin is nervous about getting a cavity drilled and Wayne says "You don't feel a thing.....once you get past that needle." And Kevin asks, "What needle?" and Wayne says, "The big one, about the size of a telephone pole" and he's saying it all seriously.

Re: Favorite Wayne moment?

Two moments come to mind. It's been a long time since I've seen the episode, so I don't remember what exactly is said, but there was an episode where Wayne volunteered to join the Army, except he wasn't accepted for some reason, and Jack comforted Wayne when he broke down crying, feeling lost about what to do with his life. The other is when the family is at the dinner table and Kevin flings a spoonful of mashed potatoes at Wayne's ear. "TONIGHT. WHILE YOU SLEEP, PAAAAAAAAL." The delivery was perfect xDD

Why did I write? Because I found life unsatisfactory.
