Also Audie Murphy and Tim Holt.

Jerry Lewis and Sammy Davis, Jr. were two more.

Re: Fast Gun
Oddly enough, country singer - and sometime actor - Randy Travis is supposed to be very quick as well.
Re: Fast Gun
I've run across this same claim for at least a dozen actors, and suspect a lot of it is just PR junk.
A few of them were undoubtedly timed by others who knew what they were doing, real quick draw experts, but unless I hear it from one of them, I remain skeptical of all those claims.
I am a tremendous fan of Glenn Ford and would LIKE to believe this, but press releases are basically meaningless.

Re: Fast Gun
I just watched a short filler on the Western Channel that said Glenn Ford's draw was 4 / 10th's of a second. Noted to be one of the fastest if not the fastest of all the western actors of his day or all time.
Re: Fast Gun
Never mind what these sceptics say, thats there opinion? His draw was has you say 4/10ths of a second, nobody came close. Take my word, I am going back 45 years, thats all I have to say about this great guy who lived for about 90 years
Re: Fast Gun
Yup, what wildman said is true.
"They"[?] held a contest for some reason but it's too long ago to remember if it was for charity or "Battle of the Stars" or whatever. Glenn could draw from the holster and fire his weapon AND hit his target in 0.4 seconds.
I don't remember all of the other contestants, but a couple were Kirk Douglas and John Wayne, I think James Arness was there too, but I might be wrong.
My favorite Glenn Ford movie is "The Fastest Gun Alive".
Guess they picked the right actor for THAT part, Lol
Cheers

Re: Fast Gun
Also, Jerry Lewis and Sammy Davis, Jr. were fast draw guys.
Re: Fast Gun
check out Audie Murphy in the scene with Lee Marvin were he calls him "Sheep Dip" and also the showdown at the end of DUEL AT SILVER CREEK
if you want to see a really fast draw.
if you want to see a really fast draw.
Re: Fast Gun
It's all a bunch of public relations hooey. ANYBODY in Hollywood who wanted such a silly, meaningless distinction could have his publicist promote a legend to that effect. It's utter nonsense.
Re: Fast Gun
You think no actor could be a fast draw? Why not? Why couldn't an actor be accomplished at something other than acting?
Sammy Davis, Jr. was known as a fast draw and so was silent cowboy Tim McCoy. So why not Glenn Ford?
