In my neighborhood you canβt walk into any store without one so you really donβt have a choice.

Yes, one issue that I "swing left" on is the mask issue. There's no denying that the pandemic is real and its deadly effects are not being exaggerated. Under the circumstances, wearing a mask is the considerate and responsible thing to do.

Of course I wear one!
It's the latest in fashion accessories this season!
I wouldn't leave home without it.
Only a fool would.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

I cover my nose and mouth with my mask in public while I am inside a building. While I'm inside of a building, I try my best to keep a distance of at least 6 feet from another person when it is at all possible.
The only time I uncover my face, is when I am not anywhere near 6 feet distance from another person while I'm outside. It's hard to breathe while your face is covered. So, when it is safe for me and others, I remove my face covering.
I slipped up a couple of times. But someone reminded me to cover my face, so I did for the safety of others around me.
At home is another story altogether.
I haven't tried going to a party or public gathering yet so I have no idea what that experience is when you have to cover your face.

you can just hold your finger under your nose like a fake moustache and it's the same as wearing a mask

No, unless if I have to. Masks are designed to prevent you from infecting others if you have the coronavirus otherwise it's a waste of inventory if you're not sick. I mean, sure you can wear it as a idea of "better safe than sorry". Plus it doesn't protect you from getting a virus, it just lessened a chance of contracting the virus, depending on where you are, it can reduce somewhere between 27 percent up to 65 chances of getting the virus. That means you will still get it with or without masks. Plus, wearing the mask for too long is not a good idea without occasional few minutes of fresh air.
Plus, I think it's a good idea if wearing the masks is optional but if you have the virus, then I'd strongly recommend to wear it until the worst is passed.
Unfortunately, if you have a job, you HAVE to wear it. Unless if, again, it's optional depending on where you live. I know a few places that won't accept people who does not wear masks. Barbershop/salon is a good example.
If I get pulled over, it better be a gay policeman riding on a unicorn.

You could be infected but asymptomatic, and still infect others. That's one of the main reasons many places require masks now. A lot of people have been infecting others when they didn't know they were sick.
