2 friends and I used to play with the reverse glass as a kid, after I did a trip to Scotland. It was fun and the same spirit name was spelled on the hand written letters. But I didn't think anything of it. Just thought it was our minds doing it.

A relative told me he also did the same when he went to Scotland, and that they contacted the spirit of a dead soldier who gave them predictions that came true later, such as the Falklands war etc.

I have since watched shows that all claim they opened portals to hell (Demons etc) with it so I have no idea how innocent fun could turn into that for some people

It's so funny that this was marketed as a child's toy, a kid's board game, right next to Chutes & Ladders and Candyland. I wonder if Parker Brothers or Hasbro ever thought that one day, their children's game would ignite terror across the world and be the foundation of numerous cultural iconic horror flicks for generations to come.

About 10 years ago, when our brother passed away, my husband and my sister cleared and cleaned out his house in preparation for sale. there was a Ouija board in one of his closets. It wasn't your run of the mill cardboard jobs. It was very fancy graphics, and made from metal. There was no planchet, I still didn't want to touch it. We set it aside outside for Goodwill. I didn't even like touching that thing. It was very ornate. The graphics were hideous.

How unusual! I wonder why your brother would have such an ornate Ouija board. Was he a collector of such items? It sounds so ornate and rather beautiful. I've never seen one made of metal before. I even just now searched for an image, but I couldn't find anything (other than very small tins, for holding mints or small items). I only found metal planchets.

I find them fascinating, as anything in that general genre, but I would never have one in my home, nor would I use one. Nothing good ever comes from those things.

My brother was "collector" of many items!
He was a HORDER in the first degree. It took us nearly a year of numerous trips to Goodwill, three yard sales, and two loaded dumpsters to clear out his collected items.

I have no idea of where he found that thing, but I knew that I didn't like it from the moment I found it.

I wish I knew how he moved about. We knew that his garage was full of things like lawnmowers, vacuum cleaners and bikes he liked to fix up. We just didn't realize that the house was also full. When we would visit, he always came outside. We would sit at the picnic table.

After the Ouija board, I didn't feel comfortable being in the house alone.

When I was younger, maybe in 3rd grade or so, my great-aunt had a Ouija board. My Science teacher was pregnant, and we asked her if she was having a boy or a girl, and she said she didn't know. My great-aunt took out her Ouija board and we played it together in her living room, but I never told her what question I was asking. I'm steadfast that I was not moving the planchette and I doubt my aunt was given she didn't know what was being asked. I was asking silently, in my mind, and not out loud. She never knew.

I got an answer: BOY

I went to school the next day and told my Science teacher that I KNEW she was going to have a boy. Guess what? She had a boy!

What's strange is I never saw my great-aunt use the Ouija board any other time.

I've never touched one since.

I like the aesthetics of them, and I find them interesting, but I trust my gut.

I have seen people decorate with them on TV. Sometimes during the Halloween season, sometimes game rooms. After the movies, I just couldn't bring myself to have one. I'm usually a fairly level headed person. I enjoy the horror genre! For some reason though, I find those boards disturbing.

There are many people who live like that. They hang onto anything and everything. It's a condition.
I'll tell you one thing. After the experience of clearing the house, my husband and I went through our own home and got rid of anything we hadn't been using in over a year… clothes, home decor, a pool table in our basement we rarely played on anymore…
We de clutter regularly now. We have never been hoarders, but after that experience, it makes a person stop and think. I told my husband that I never want our son to have to deal with something of that magnitude when we go.

I just finished decking my halls for Christmas the other day. I have been going through all the rest of the decorations. I have a donation box already. I also just finished clearing out my clothes closet. I plan a quick trip to Goodwill tomorrow. After that? Time to hit the stores and buy more stuff!

Yes. I have seen Hoarders. It's hard for many of us to understand that type of person and how one can live that way. I can't count the number of times I would say, "why?" during the whole time we were clearing out my brother's house. I could tell you some of the funny collections of odds and ends we would find in different places, but I love/loved my brother very much, and I could never make fun of him since he isn't here to explain himself.
After watching a number of episodes of that show, It's still hard to understand completely, but I can accept that it is a condition.

Pazuzu's face was not shown on the aluminum kitchen vent in the theatrical release, and her doing the spider walk down the staircase was cut completely. I wish it wasn't because once we saw it, I think it would have definitely added to the movie. However, both scenes were deemed too scary.

Thanks! I recall the hype when it came to DVD as "the version you've never seen before!" The face on the kitchen vent is not as bad as when we were first shown subliminal which did cause some bad dreams I admit.

I never got nightmares from this movie, and I really enjoyed it. I still rank it up there with one of the best movies. I saw the subliminal flashes, but I guess it just never affected me.

I read about the actress/stunt double who did the actual spider walk down the stairs. It was really quite involved, and there were a lot of modifications to make it look like it did. She was really pushed to the brink for this performance, so I found it sad, and confusing, why they would cut such a fantastic scene.
