Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

The guy from Tonga (Pita Taufatofua) is a 10/10 flag bearer:

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

Gayer than Henry Cavill.

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

He was so oily, I was worried he'd slip! I was also extremely worried the thing he was wearing (I'm not sure what it's called in Tonga) would slip off. It looked a little loose while he was walking.

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

Yes, he's very shiny

He'd win in a slip 'n slide competition.

Really? You could've sued the company!

This guy doesn't need the actual Slip 'N Slide thing, though. He could just do it on his kitchen floor.

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

Yes, that would've been very unfortunate if it had slipped off

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

Looks so wrong with the mask…
Just sayin…

The best flag bearer was the one that had the bear with the flag!
Duh!

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

There was a black bear spotted in an Olympics stadium the other day. Imagine if it had shown up during the parade.

Yogi was in search of a pic-a-nic.

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

Why is a white boy representing Tonga though?

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

Taufatofua was born in Australia on 5 November 1983 and raised in Tonga. He attended Tonga Side School and Tonga High School, and graduated from Saint Peter's Lutheran College in Brisbane in 2000. His father is Tongan and his mother is Australian of British descent. He began taekwondo at age five. His childhood included such traditional Tongan activities as Saturday farmwork harvesting cassava.

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

I'm in Southern California and there are a lot of Pacific Islanders where I live.

That guy is so mixed he's almost white. He's really an Aussie. And that's fine, I'm just saying.

This is what Tongan men look like:

One of the flag bearers for Japan was a half-Japanese and half-Beninese basketball player; he plays for the Washington Wizards, but he's representing Japan in the Olympics:

Good on Japan.

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

My point is just what I said. He does not look like an ethnic Tongan. We are talking about his looks on this thread, so I'm just throwing in my two cents since most of you have probably never seen a Tongan.

Re: Best flag bearer during the Parade of Nations

No, of course not. And Cutey has every right to represent Tonga, I never said otherwise. I asked why, but I know why. He's part white and he's cute.

I certainly would not deny the right of a mixed race person to represent mongrel America. I do know Africans would look at him and say he's not black though.
