Re: April 4, 2018: 50 YEARS AGO ONE MOVIE CHANGED ALL MOVIES FOREVER

This plus Star Wars plus The Day The Earth Stood Still are the three best sci-fi films I have ever seen. I am not sure anything will ever top them.

Re: April 4, 2018: 50 YEARS AGO ONE MOVIE CHANGED ALL MOVIES FOREVER

You might also want to throw Forbidden Planet in there, Bubba.

I will take a look for it. I have heard good things about it.

Re: April 4, 2018: 50 YEARS AGO ONE MOVIE CHANGED ALL MOVIES FOREVER

The trailer is kind of hokey, but the film is excellent.

I agree. It's been my favorite sci-fi flick since I saw it as a kid. When Worlds Collide (1951) had a bigger impression on me, but it wasn't a positive one. The world had just ended and I was the kid left behind at the theater from a birthday party.

You still taking that horse paste?

🐴 April 4, 2018: 50 YEARS AGO ONE MOVIE CHANGED ALL MOVIES FOREVER

¡Of course! The only reason there is a campaign against it is because it has been very effective and is very cheap. ¿Have you taken the jab?

My 170 IQ makes it easy to decide between the jab and ivermectin. Just do some research uncolored by the MSM whose opinions are bought and paid for. The so-called vaccine is actually creating variants and spreading them. We know the virus was created in a lab, so it's no stretch that the jab was created as a follow up. I heard that the head of Pfizer hasn't taken the jab. You'd think he'd at least take a fake one like so many other celebrities have done in photo ops.

If you have everything to back up everything you claim then you show it.

Show us from non biased sources that…

The vax is creating variants and spreading them.

The jab was created as a follow up.

The head of Pfizer hasn't taken the jab.

That celebs are taking fake ones for photo ops.

So how many of those are real vs made up from you?

🐴 April 4, 2018: 50 YEARS AGO ONE MOVIE CHANGED ALL MOVIES FOREVER

You would consider all of my sources biased because they don't fit your narrative. I've never asked anyone to prove the jab is beneficial. ¿So, why should I promote a double standard? What I'm saying is, follow the money and do your own research.

No, your sources are biased because they spew complete and utter bullshit and idiots like you just lap it up–because it fits the narrative you want.

You are literally projecting your own epistemological flaws onto others.

Re: April 4, 2018: 50 YEARS AGO ONE MOVIE CHANGED ALL MOVIES FOREVER

The notable landmarks in science fiction lifted the goalpost ever so slightly to a higher level for a variety of reasons.

Metropolis (1927) and Forbidden Planet (1956) attempted to engage their audiences both cerebrally and imaginatively, although neither successfully caused a tectonic shift in the genre in their own times. Forbidden Planet was a popular sensation but an exception in the midst of the teenage market that was just as happy with Attack of the Crab Monsters as they were with Shakespeare's The Tempest in outer space.

Metropolis, because it was a silent at the end that era, had to wait decades (and several restorations) before it achieved world renown fame outside of the film scholar circle.

In 2001, A Space Odyssey, Kubrick was also shooting for a combination of imaginative effects and philosophical depth. Unlike the earlier two movies, however, he refused to make it easy by dumbing it down for mass consumption. Instead, he spread clues throughout the solar system and challenged the audience to interpret the underlying meaning of what they had experienced.

While he did reshape special effects for all time, he was less successful in ushering in an era of more cerebral concepts, which was wiped away with the release of Star Wars in 1977 that returned the genre to the innocent days of Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers.

Although the almost limitless range of the science fiction universe is evident today in movies that are adventurous (Star Trek), provocative (Dark City), comedic (Dark Star) and satiric (Galaxy Quest), nothing since 2001, A Space Odyssey has been as revolutionary.

And This, Too, Shall Pass Away
