William Redfield : An obvious talent.

An obvious talent.

I just saw One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest again, what a great film. I think William Redfield was absolutely amazing in this film, he absolutely nailed it. He also displayed great comic timing too, it's rare but some great actors have both sides - William Redfield displays great dramatic ability, taste, comic timing and temperance in his performance.

I looked him up as I must confess I don't remember seeing him elsewhere, and I wondered how this could be as he clearly had so much ability, and I was saddened to hear of his death at a young age.

It is one of the great things about film that his wonderful talent is captured here forever, it is a great performance in a wonderful film.

Re: An obvious talent.

Just seen him in Death Wish, and he looks different without the tash he has in Cuckoo's Nest, which was made 2 years later. The guy was a good actor.

Re: An obvious talent.

Couldn't agree more, word for word...

Re: An obvious talent.

He should have been nominated for ofotcn.

Re: An obvious talent.

That's precisely why I came here to look him up and see if he was nominated or had won ?

Re: An obvious talent.

Yes, that is one of those shocking tragedies too difficult to ponder, upon learning of that wonderful, promising and talented actor William Redfield's passing at such a very young age.

William has recently been featured upon a television series rerun episode, and to see his fine performance there, and to realize now that he would soon be gone is alarmingly amazing because he, naturally, delivers a very entertaining turn there, as he invariably does throughout the course of his all-too-brief acting career.

Thank-you, William, for all of your very fine performances, which do not go unseen nor unnoticed by many a fan of your very professional acting talent.

Re: An obvious talent.

Agreed. Redfield was outstanding as high-strung intellectual Harding in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Moreover, I tagged Redfield in six photos from Cuckoo's Nest on the IMDb, so now at least he has a handful of pictures as Harding on his IMDb page. In addition, I also tagged Redfield in three photos from Fantastic Voyage on the IMDb. Best of all, Redfield finally has a default profile pic thanks to a photo I tagged him in from the early 50's sci-fi anthology show Tales of Tomorrow.

Re: An obvious talent.

Indeed dying at less than fifty is a sad thing all right. He should have had many more years.
