Stephen King : About to begin reading The Dark Tower series

It's my first time reading it. I know very little about this series, just bits and pieces from characters that have appeared in his other works like Insomnia and The Stand. I'm very excited. I've been saving this series for a long time, and every time I saw a discussion on this series I'd click elsewhere. Figured now that it's coming to the big screen, it's time to read it before I see the movie. I'm just finished up the book I'm currently reading and will start The Gunslinger....

Nice. Which version of The Gunslinger are you going to read?

I tried reading it back when it was first released during King's glory days. I had loved everything he'd written up until then. I found it juvenile and silly, but that probably had as much to do with the fact that I don't like fantasy-fiction as from what King wrote. I managed about 50 pages in, and then lost interest. King has written other books I didn't think were very good, but his writing kept me interested enough to at least finish them. But not The Dark Tower.

I'm not into the fantasy side of his writing, either. Never liked The Dark Tower. Read the first two, decided it wasn't for me, haven't read any of them since.
