Goodfellas : Why didn't Lorraine Bracco meet with Karen Hill before production?

Does anyone know the reason?

It could have been for any number of reasons. First, around the time the movie was made was not that many years after the Hill's went into the Witness Protection Program so it could be that Karen was far more cautious than Henry was in the end in terms of exposure. Second, it is somewhat common for actors to prefer to go in cold so to speak because they know what they want to do in terms of performance. Third, Bracco could have seen Karen as pretty common and figured it just was not worth the time. Fourth, Bracco may have not seen any purpose in going any further than reading Pelligi's book.

Or yet a fifth reason might be because Karen might not have been a Scorsese fan. If I found out Martin Scorsese was directing a film about my life, I'd probably die on the spot.
