Three Colors: Red : Rate the three films

Re: Rate the three films

White: 6.5/10
Blue: 6/10
Red: 3/10

I just finished watching all three this week and I honestly couldn't get into red at all.

Re: Rate the three films

Blue A+: flat out masterpiece. Binoche's career best performance and one of the best performances from the 90s.

Red A+: This one is magical. Every time I watch it, I find something fresh and new. Great film making on all level.

White B. Very good movie, terrific male lead performance. Feels a bit out of touch compared the other two as both Blue and Red are undisputed masterpieces.

Re: Rate the three films

In my opinion -
1) Blue (A bleak masterpiece that's not just Kieslowski's career best film, it's one of the best film of the 90s)
2) White (A brilliant dark comedy and a very life-affirming film. It also has the best individual moments of the trilogy)
3) Red (It's very good and it's definitely the warmest of the 3. But there's just too many plot coincidences here and it draws comparisons to the Double Life of Veronique, a far superior film)

Re: Rate the three films

1).White-10
2).Blue-8
3).Red-7

Re: Rate the three films

I watched them all for the first time today - One after another. Amazing collection.

I definitely enjoyed Blue the most, but I think Red is the better film.
White was good, but I didn't appreciate the tone as much.

Red - 9
Blue - 8
White - 7

Re: Rate the three films

1. Blue - 8.5
2. White - 8
3. Red - 8

Re: Rate the three films

It's been ten years since the original post!

I'd rank them as follows:

1. Red. The most emotional of the trilogy. And that ending just wraps up the trilogy with a red ribbon. Also, it has cameos from characters from White and Blue.
2. White. An entertaining revenge story. The man punished his ex-wife but also he punished himself!
3. Blue. A good movie, but it didn't quite click with me the way Red did.

Re: Rate the three films

Blue by far the best then Red then White.

Re: Rate the three films

1. RED. This is my all-time favourite film, and I still watch it at least once a year.
2. BLUE.
3. WHITE.

Keislowski was at the absolute peak of his powers in the early '90's, along with the Colours Trilogy, The Double Life of Veronique is also one of my all-time favourites. He made some of the most enthralling films about people, their lives and interactions.

Re: Rate the three films

1. Red-10
2. Blue-9.5
3. White-9.5

Red is one of the greatest films I've ever seen. I've watched it multiple times, and it has never failed to reveal more of itself to me. I admire Blue as a work of art, but it's very heavy going for me. White is the sleeper. It's in a completely different modeall three are different yet have similaritiesand as such is absolutely successful. Actually, I think The Double Life of Veronique comes closest to Red in its brilliance.
