Chicago Hope : Theme music

Theme music

Chicago Hope had two different theme songs. I guess someone decided the first one wasn't good enough, and replaced it. IMHO, the first theme was far better, lyrical and haunting. The second theme isn't bad, but it's a bit too Mike Post-ish for my taste. (I don't know who wrote it; it could have been Post.)

My question is and I can't find this in the IMDB credits who wrote the two theme songs, especially the first one? I'd like to find more music by whoever wrote the first one.

Re: Theme music

A bit of GooglingOK, actually a lot of Googlingturned up some answers but also raised more questions.

The first theme song, which is described as Season 1 only, can be heard/seen here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=9vS-p7zgN0E (this is from someone who likes taking the visuals of the opening sequence of Malcolm In The Middle and setting it to other shows' theme songs). I still can't find out who wrote it.

The second theme song, the one that everyone seems to know best, is by Mark Isham. It twice received Emmy nominations as Outstanding Main Title Music, in 1995 and 1996. http://www.filmtracks.com/titles/chicago_hope.html is a review of an album of Isham's music from Chicago Hope; Isham composed a lot of the incidental music in addition to this second theme. Click the link in the left column, titled Chicago Hope Main Title, and you'll hear about half of the theme.

And then there's a *third* theme song, which is described as Season 6 only. It can be heard/seen here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4JXoWXEmM0o and, sounding a bit different, here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DD_DGj2Pwws (our Malcolm In The Middle person again). I also cannot find out who wrote this one.

Mark Isham has his own website, http://www.isham.com/ His site provides an email address, and I've sent Mr. Isham an email asking whether he can answer these questions. If he replies, I'll post it here.
