7.5 surely a wind up

I found this film to be one of the worst I've ever seen that is all

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

I thought it was a great concept wasted. It wasn't horrible but it was heavily flawed and could have been a lot better. 5/10.

I'm writing this signature in bold so people know it's a signature

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Not a rerally bad movie but had many loop holes . The Star cast didnot match With the budget..

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

"I thought it was a great concept wasted."

I thought it was an absurdly horrible concept done extremely well.

Seriously.

This movie gets a ten from me, for everything except the plot.

The plot gets a one. So absurd I can't believe anyone is discussing it in a serious manner.

So, what was your overall rating?

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

A wind up with over a quarter of a million voters?

I loved it...big time!

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

What's a 'wind up' ?

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

A joke/prank

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Thanks advance. Never heard that expression before

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Because it's British.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Imagine a toy being 'wound up'. Then it performs whatever its meant to once its been wound. Thats a wind up. when people are fooled or made to act like puppets

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Thanks for explaining it :)

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

It's so odd how different peoples opinions can be. I felt this was the best movie I've seen in a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed it... I didn't like Inception and most people loved it. Thought it was lame but Source Code seemed really cool to me..

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

I must say "a soldier wakes up in a train as another person" didn't make me want to watch it very much.
But you said you didn't like inception but you do this one so...
Thanks, i'll watch this now.
I also didn't like inception so maybe i will like this.
Dreaming you are dreaming in a dream makes me go, prrrrrrrffffffffftttoey :D

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Let me know if you like it..

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

We are on the same page! Can't say I did Not like inception but I was the one who liked it less in my entourage. It took me 4 years to watch Code Source because the trailer failed to attract me. I was pleasently surpised. Most def. deserve a 7.5. Inception is a bit overrated.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

I really enjoyed this movie and have watched it multiple times. But I also enjoyed The Matrix, 10 Monkeys and RoboCop which this movie has plot similarities.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

"10 Monkeys"... I assume You mean 12 Monkeys, right? Sorry for nitpicking here :-)

ELECTRO-HIP-NOTIC-BUMP-MUSIC... Zoot Zilla, PTFI, Dr. Illenstein & New Trinity Revolution... YEAH

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Lol. Yes I did. I am not sure what I was thinking on that.

Maybe they started with 10 monkeys and then their budget got increased enough to hire two more monkeys.

Re: So you got owned

I thought it was really good and interesting and creative with the whole time-line.
I wish the last half-hour was different though. It felt out of place and false and I wished they would focus on finding the terrorist plot to the end rather than the romantic interest plot.
Overall though good film. I don't really care about IMDB ratings that much but it's a good way to see whether a film is generally received as good or bad.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Suspended disbelief, is required in ample amounts, when watching a film like this; there are plotholes a-plenty of course; but then again lots of films do take liberties with logic.

The Matrix, is no different, but widely loved by millions of people, even though that too defies logic at times.

I think a 7 is just about right for SC. Could have gone to an 8, had it not been for the appalling "tacked-on" ending

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Irrelevant criticism that uses a minor detail to crap on the movie as a whole: the comment.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

It got 9 from me, flawless sci-fi.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Personally, I loved it. Then again, science fiction is BY FAR my single favorite genre for both books and films and I don't need my science fiction films to be grounded in reality. Honestly, I have never understood why certain science fiction fans require that science fiction films be grounded in reality if they are to enjoy the film. It just makes absolutely no sense to me. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with making a science fiction film that is grounded in reality, just as there is nothing wrong with making a science fiction film that is not grounded in realilty. Its fiction, end of story and there are no rules in this regard. One can make a very realistic science fiction film and one can make an absolutely outlandish science fiction film. Again, there are no requirements or prerequisits for quality science fiction, beyond having an enjoyable story and characters that you enjoy. .

Almost every quality science fiction film ever created requires suspension of disbelief to some extent and has aspects that could easily be described as absurd if your comparing it to reality. 2001 and the black monolith, The Matrix in general, Inception and the different levels of dreaming and the whole getting stranded in your raw subconscious, the force in Star Wars, the interstellar bomb in Sunshine, growing avatars and transferring your consciousness to them in Avatar, The mutant powers in X-Men, the reavers in Serenity, Tom Cruise reliving the same day again and again in Edge of Tomorrow, etc. I could literally go on and on as 99% of every sceince fiction film ever produced has some aspect of the film that could again, be easily described as absurd when compared to reality. At the end of the day, Source Code and having the ability for someone to relive the final 8 minutes of someone's life is no more absurd than any of these other premises. To suggest otherwise is laughable at best. So if your issue is needing to have films grounded in reality then simply stop watching science fiction as chances are your going to see a film that has multiple aspects that are nothing short of absurd when it comes to what is real and what isn't real or what is or isn't possible, at least based on our present level of knowlegde.

Personally, I feel sorry for people that have such ridiculous requirements from genre's like science fiction & fantasy. Having those requirements would make it so it was literally next to impossible to enjoy a science fiction/fantasy film or book and that would just plain suck, period. Again science fiction is my single favorite genre and having such ridiculous requirments on the genre would ultimately mean that I wouldn't have enjoyed the hundreds of books and hundreds of films that I truly loved.

Was Source Code an Oscar worthy film? Nope. Was Source Code an enjoyable science fiction film, absolutely. I have watched it twice and I thoroughly enjoyed the film both times.

Still Shooting With Film!

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

Star wars and Avatar are not sci-fi, they are fantasy. Other than that great post.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

I think 7.5 is a tad high, but "worst" would be a stretch, unless you don't like science fiction. I think 7/10 would be more appropriate. I feel there are serious problems with the central premise of the film, but they still did a lot of things well. Overall, if you can suspend belief, it's still a fairly entertaining movie.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

This film is near perfect for entertainment .. for me most definitely.

Everytime it comes on Tv (every month at least once) I watch it even though I still have a copy on my PVR from Xmas 2014.

7.5 I think is quite low but this s IMDB. All about taste after all but to put it into context. Babel (2006) is also 7.5 and I fell asleep watching that.

Re: 7.5 surely a wind up

8/10

Enjoyable sci fi hokum, a little bit reminiscence of 12 Monkeys and not overlong.

It's that man again!!
