Buffy the Vampire Slayer : Did anyone find Rupert Giles attractive?

Alright I watched Buffy back when it began and when it was airing on tv

Of course back then it was easy to see how Angel was meant to be the dreamy boyfriend and later on looking back even Xander was looking good when he was dating Cordelia but that's another topic entirely

Looking back now though as an adult there have been times where I am finding Giles to be attractive and I am thinking o man

he appeared to be the elderly gentleman back when I was a kid watching this show and now that I have grown up but am still young I am not sure if this is entirely normal for me to think so so does anyone else think so?

I mean it was a bit funny too when he dressed up as or like the sorcerer's apprentice at the magic shop's opening
but he also develops more of a sense of humor in the later seasons
and the fact that he is so sweet and endearing and cares for Buffy
does anyone else see it?

Hell yeah Giles is sexy, especially noticeable when Dorky Wesley comes into the picture, you can really see how cool and suave Giles is. And like Anya says in Tabula Rasa there is a rugged handsomeness to him. I think he's sexiest in season 4 when he isn't so stuffy and buttoned up in the library, and when we start getting to see him sing- he is dreamy.

Season 4 is definitely Giles at his sexiest.

When Buffy first showed on television, I was about 8. So, I didn't really find Giles all that attractive. But, when I was that young, nothing short of a Power Ranger or Disney Channel Movie star peaked my interest. On top of this, I heavily identified with Miss Buffy Summers even at that age so Giles felt more like the cool but stuffy dad I wish I had. Even when the show ended and I was 15, Giles was still so.."Giles"!! He was awesome but still"Giles"!! I lost my crush on Xander, maintained one for Oz, Riley, & Angel. Obtained one for Robin Wood, Nathan Fillion (not so much Caleb), andWarren for some reason (gotta look into that psychological damage later). But, never saw Giles in that way. And couldn't see how others saw him in that way.

Now, however, after I've taken a few years off from watching the show but am now marathoning it at 27, I can see Giles's appeal. Still, he's hot in that "I'm not attracted to you but I can see why others think you're attractive AND I wouldn't mind coming across a guy was like you but not you in particular because you're you and liking you is gross" kind of way. It's like the awkwardness of when Batgirl had the hots for Batman. I still identify with Buffy and thus still see Giles in that father-figure way. He's not a bad looking dude but "attractive" isn't how I see him.

.though oddly enough, even kid me thought Ethan Rayne was hot and I'm now wondering what THAT says about me as a person.

Not initially, (I was 10 years old when I started watching). But give it a few years and heck yes he is one of the most attractive characters in the show And for me easily eclipses some of the more popular male actors.

i always found him attractive. I was previously familiar with him as the man in the Nescafe Gold Blend adverts, but I liked him better as Giles. Angel and xander were much too young for me.

Tweed Giles does have a slight Hugh Grantishness to him.

No. I am Bi and am mostly attracted to women and even though I find some guys attractive I have never been attracted to guys who are old enough to be my Father.

I thought he was attractive back when the show aired (I was 18) but I didn't see him as 'sexy' - Angel was always the one that I found to be the most sexy.

However, now I think Giles is incredibly sexy. The first ep that really shows it to me is "The Dark Age" - when he's in Ripper mode yummy!

Oooh I loved me some Anthony Stewart Head. ::Purrs.:: Especially when he got out of the tweed and more relaxed clothes.

In "Band Candy" yes. Anthony Stewart Head had this Sid Vicious/Spike thing going on.. I was into it. But yeah other then that episode no.. He was too nerdy looking and like way old.. Damn you Joss Whedon write that Sodding Ripper prequel. I want young rebellious Giles without him being under a spell from eating band candy.

Oh hell yeah, that's why I never had a problem with the idea of Guffy (or Wiley), the whole of Buffy is essentially an ephebophile's dream, this handsome older man surrounded by all these adoring nubile teenage girls. Glee replaced it eventually, not sure what does nowadays?

I'm in Anthony Head's age bracket - he's got a bit over a year on me - and I've found with each passing year I've not gotten as good-looking as he was that year. The bawsterd.
