Batman: Arkham City : Question for diehard Batman fans…..

Question for diehard Batman fans…..

I've enjoyed the movies and just completed Arkham City on my son's Wii U, but I certainly don't consider myself an expert on Batman. Do the most passionate Batman fans like Nolan's approach(treat Batman with realism) or do they prefer the video game/comic book version of Batman(that has superhuman characters like Clayface, Mr. Freeze, and Solomon Grundy)? Just curious.

Re: Question

I love both. Both are loyal portrayals of Batman. You look at Nolan's movies and you can see the comic book story influences on it. You look at the Arkham games, and they go more fantasy and you see the comic influences there, too.

Both different, both valid. It's how you handle them that makes them great. I mean Schumacher's one were all fantasy and most fans hated them.

Question is: Which one do you prefer?

And I answered. I love both.

Re: Both

Thanks for everybody's input. I tend to agree with everyone's answers that the movies and video games each work in their own way.

If I had to choose, I would go with the Nolan's Batman. Nolan's version of Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Bane are the best versions of those characters that I've seen. And Joker, well, he works perfectly in anything he is in. Would love to have seen Nolan's take on Riddler.

Re: Both

true, Nolan's version is great.
But I do think I prefer the Arkham series more, just for the fact that a slightly less realistic Bayltman could work without it looking silly.

Ok for future reference using quotes is good.

Re: Both

He didn't reply to you.

You just needed to pay attention. Quotes aren't necessary .

Re: Both

Yeah they are when you're viewing threads in flat mode and not nest.

Smart ass.

Re: Both

That's a decision that you made, and it's clearly the wrong one.

Re: Question for diehard Batman fans…..

Its kinda cool to see both.

Re: Question for diehard Batman fans…..

Depends on my mood, sometimes I want a realistic and gritty look at Batman other times I want the wacky and over the top point of view.

I do love the animated series the most though and how they got a perfect middle ground of craziness and seriousness.

The video games also seem to find this middle ground really well.

I think to fully understand Batman we need both views on his character and his friends or enemies. Without say the realistic approach we would never get to see why Bruce is so passionate about what he does and why he never wants to give up and without the more comic look at the universe we would probably never fully understand Jokers (or any villain for that matter) absolute madness.

Hello Sir, have you heard of the Himalayan Leaping Gazelle?

Re: Question for diehard Batman fans…..

Personally, I hate the Christopher Nolan films with every fibre of my being. Batman is not realistic, he exists in the same universe as Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman.

Considering this is the first time in over 2 years on here an idiot like you has made an issue of something like this then it's clearly not the wrong decision.

Nolan's movies were not realistic either.

Re: Question for diehard Batman fans…..

Batman himself is an unrealistic character. The popular argument that anyone could be Batman is well wrong. The key to Batman's success is that he's a darker character then most other heroes. While I enjoy Nolan's movies they were in no way a realistic portrayal. Batman is at his best when he walks the line between the serious and the absurd.

Re: Question for diehard Batman fans…..

Which is what Nolan's Batman's movies did. There was serious and the absurd.
