I agree I'm liking it as well, both are doing a great job. It has to be difficult for two people to be the focus of the entire film (not everyone could accomplish this)

Yep i've been anxiously awaiting seeing this since i first heard about it and so far it's not letting me down 1 bit. Samuel jackson is simply amazing for this part it's almost like this was made just for his type of acting and Tommy lee jones is doing a fantastic job as the stubborn professor. I've been telling friends and family about it but now having seen it i'm gonna have to get a copy of it and bring it with me to make sure they see it.

This is how it's done, all right. They are both breathtakingly good. They sustain what good actors can create for a couple of minutes at a time in more conventional movies - for a full 90 minutes without letup.

Sensational writing, too. No beating around the bush. It gets straight to it in the first minute and stays straight on it the entire time.

Having read the play, I was worried that Samuel L Jackson would make Black into a charictature instead of the complex being that he is written as. But boy was I blown away. He definitely gave the stronger of the two performances! Sorry for ever having doubted him!!

Amazing acting? I am not sure I would praise it that strongly. They did a good job, but, y'know, the script does not have a wide range of notes (in the musical sense, which is adapted, in Acting, to refer to the range of emotions, or the range of . ummm, places within the Psyche that the characters launch from.) So, I don't think the script really gives the performers all that varied of a workout.

They _do_ do a good job in the "listen and react" aspect. But that latter is, also, under the heading of Purty Darn Basic Skills.

Agree with the OP. SLJ was perfectly cast and definitely will get awards for this, or at least nominations.
