Classic Film : Limits to adding titles to watchlist

A couple of days ago I added film number 10,000 to my watchlist! Rather a daunting number, I admit, and I might never watch many of them. When I clicked to add what I had intended to be entry number 10,001 in my long, long list, I was confronted with stony grey instead of welcoming green. Since then, the number has remained stuck on 10,000 as I haven't been able to add to it as I browse and explore the wonders of IMDb. If it is indeed the case that one can only add 10,000 titles to one's watchlist, it seems to me to be something of a limiting and unfortunate drawback to the often splendid lay-out of the database. Does anybody know whether there is such a limit? If so, I might have to start going through eliminating certain entries

You might consider getting a second account & start adding your films to that. It does seem silly that they give you a limit on one account when you can have another, doesn't it?

I don't think I'll be setting up another account. I'll probably just make a written note of films that particularly interest me. Setting a ceiling of 10,000 seems pretty silly to me. I hope there's not a limit to how many films one can rate on here! Hehe!

It would be quite a bit of bother. Agreed, IMDb needs the people who create watchlists, rate films, review films. You would think they would cater to them and not restrict them.

Don't you remove titles after you've watched them? I do, at least when I remember. I have 740 titles on my watchlist now, and I'll bet I could get it down to a comfortable 720 if I went through there with a broom. Of course then I'd add more new ones and fill it up again.

Oh, of course. When I remember to do so, that is. There are probably quite a lot of films I've watched over the last five years that I've forgotten to remove so I suppose I'll have to look for them in particular!

I would have though that you'ld have more entries in your watchlist. Adding titles to my watchlist has become second nature to me over the last few years, whether it's for the polls or other pursuits.

It was nearing 1,000 titles a little over a year ago when I started to worry - it was impractical to refer to it. Imdb has improved it since then to make it more navigable, but in those days it loaded in phases like your ratings list - you couldn't skim-browse (maybe you could, I couldn't). So I trimmed the watchlist and put a check on my impulsive clicking.

I salute you for your 10,000 titles - Here's to free-wheelin'! - it testifies to the purity of your soul.

Quality watchlist mate. Any list that begins with Ilsa the Tigress of Siberia gets my vote. An interesting mix of movies encapsulating everything from oh-so-serious arthouse fare to proper z-grade fun!

Oh, cheers! Yes, anything and everything that piqued my interest made its way onto the list. I think I saw 'Ilsa' many moons ago in my teens but I don't remember that much about it (possibly too young for it!). Been adding quite a few of those z-grade horrors over recent weeks due to the Turkey Challenge over on the Horror Board.
