I agree, MissLovie. I noticed that reaction from Peanut's baby also and figured that the grandmothers were more affectionate towards the little girl. In addition, I wondered if Yvette had been bad-mouthing Peanut in front of the baby.

Uhh. It's a baby. You think the director told the baby when to cry and when not to cry? Babies don't cry on cue. The baby was Singleton's daughter. In the commentary, he said she started crying and they just kept it in rather than trying to do take after take.
Re: Did Peanut abuse her child or something?
uuh. no babies don't cry on cue. what ppl are wondering is why she cried with peanut & not juanita or yvette. babies are sensitive. she didn't like the lady that played peanut. lol

No, some babies are sensitive to being taken out of a comfort zone of someone's lap or arms. There's no telling how many times they did that scene and she may have been sitting contentedly in Yvette's lap for some time before she was handed over to Peanut. Or maybe she really didn't like the girl playing Peanut but you don't really know, do you. No one knows why she started crying.
