Angel : Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

Well as hard as any show cancellation has

I remember being so mega pissed at the time, there were so many more stories to be told

I can't believe Bones lasted 10 seasons and Angel only 5

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

Angel was a huge gut punch. Having lost Buffy and Firefly, Angel was the last show I truly loved on television at the time.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

What's really messed up is supernatural has 13 seasons now and angel which is a way better show only got five how's that for a fvck you.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

It would've had a sixth season had Joss not begged The WB for early renewal.

So the WB exec cancelled it out of spite? Man, that's petty.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

Yeah that upsets me more. Seeing shows last forever when Angel deserved more.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

Supernatural ran out of steam after about 7 seasons

I also can't believe it is still going, i haven't watched it for ages

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

I'd rather have a show maintain its creative quality and agency, and do right by its characters than meander on for ten-plus seasons. I would have maybe liked another season or two, if the finale hadn't already been perfect, and I could even see a return of sorts, but it's hard to imagine what AtS would look like if it were practically still on the air, like Supernatural.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

I understand what you are saying and I feel the same way. I was really disappointed with the finale too especially after finding out it was supposed to have a Season 6 and the head of the WB Network cancelled it 'cause he had personal problems with Joss and didn't like him asking for an early renewal. When the CW Network launched they wanted to bring Angel back but by then it was too late 'cause David had already moved on to Bones. I loved the 'Angel: After the Fall' comic book series though which is the official continuation to the show and if you haven't read them you should really check them out even if you are not a fan of comic books and graphic novels. I am hoping one day they do a movie of 'After the Fall' 'cause David has said in interviews he would play Angel again but only in a movie and since he becomes human again for a while it would explain him ageing.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

I'm right with you and it annoys me to see supernatural still going and Bones still on as well. Both shows are pretty damn bad. I mean, I half feel happy for David and half think this is karma getting back at him for being so "tired" of playing the same character for 8 years after Angel got cancelled. Here's your next TV character: 12 years later

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

I'm sure David's ok with 12 seasons of Bones. Far less night shoots. No crazy wire stunts. Minimal fighting and rehearsing.

Twelve years as Booth is probably easier than five years as Angel.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

Perhaps. But he's gotta be bored of the guy by now. You'd think a hockey fan/athletic type would like that physical aspect of acting anyway. I almost think it was the emotional exhaustion with Angel that made him a bit releived when it got cancelled. He seems to be not too much like the character. Of course that proves your theory that Booth is easier for him since he is probably more natural for him.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

Meh not really. The five seasons we got were pactically perfect. And its been over a decade. Get over it. Supernatural keeps on because it has 4 main cast members. For most of the time it had 2 main cast members and no long standing sets

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

no long standing sets

That actually makes a show more expensive. They have to keep scouting and renting new locations. Readjusting lighting and audio. Bringing in the cast and crew. Or building new sets.

A long standing set is much more cost effective. Once it's built, it's always there, they control when they can shoot on it, the lighting and audio settings are set, etc.

Re: Angel's Cancellation still hits me hard

It sucked because season 5 was so great. Especially After the let down of season 4. It got back on track and was canceled, still sucks.
