African Cats : Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
these are animals and that is their nature to survive and eat. if it didn't have that what kind of doc would it be? seriously why would you even want to see this if it were not true to itself. i hope mr jackson hand feeds some of these cats raw chicken.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
This being Disney, who knows? Think "Lion King".
Their old "True Life Adventure" series was a depiction of nature minus a lot of its gory reality. It would focus more on the whimsical rather than the bloody - as least I cannot recall hunt and chase stuff being central to the theme.
Very likely, the worst would be edited out, this a being a "G" rated family movie.
That said, I am interested in seeing this on the big screen.

Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Thank you for the information. I am an animal lover, and get very emotional at the freedom and beauty, but would be devastated if there was any death, killing and gore even though that is natural. I may save the time to travel to a theater, and the ridiculous price of a ticket and wait until this comes out on DVD. At $4 to rent it, I wouldn't feel so bad turning it off, or at least fast forwarding it through some hard to watch segments. Thanks again :)
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
I looked under the advisory and it says african cats get killed and hunters weild guns.
I'm the same way with animals, even though it's natural for other animals to kill animals, I still don't like to see it. It looks like a beautiful film and I love the commercials for it. I hope they will someday come out with a video with no killings, but like the other movies about animals, it's just nature for them to kill each other since they are eachother's food source.
But i'm guessing by the advisory, you see some disgusting hunters killing the cats.

Thanks for the comment :)

Oh my god! There aren't hunters killing cats in this movie!!!! It's Disney! There are extremely mild animal-on-animal hunting scenes. Barely any blood. Animals hunt and kill one another. It's instinct. It's the food chain. Survival. I'd rather see lions and cheetahs hunt and eat gazelles than slowly starve to death, which sometimes happens. That's a much more horrifying death than the death of the gazelle or zebra at the hands of a predator.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
The hell are you talking about? There are no gun-wielding hunters in this film.
Yes there are some predation scenes, but you only see the chase and not the kill involved. They were very careful to edit out any "offensive" images as children are clearly the target audience at hand.
If you're an animal lover, see it. It's worth your while.

Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Here's what I think, It is a documentary so it will most likely show the cats killing gazelle and stuff like that but I'm guessing nothing would happen to the actual cats cause who would wanna watch that. So if you're okay with watching cats hunting I think you'll be okay.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Thanks for your thoughts
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Saw it today, and yup there were kill scenes. They weren't overly gory but at one point the lions are eating a zebra and I'm pretty sure it was still alive. My 7 year old was fine but I did see some parents taking their really small kids out.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Apple Blossom, I'm the same way about not wanting to see animals hunt/kill each other.I handled the scenes pretty well in this related to hunting because they weren't too gory and I was rooting for the cats to you know, get their dinner. But there are other situations in the film that were VERY disturbing/heartbreaking to me. Butif you don't watch this film because of the sad parts, you will miss out on a lot of amazing footage and emotion that you would love. And the quality of the film on dvd/even blu ray will not be the same as seeing the HD huge on the big screen. Being a big cry baby myself, I would urge you to go see it on the big screen and bring kleenex.

Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
^LOL, but yea i saw it today and it was very interesting and Sam Jackson did pretty good, there are no hunters or guns, and yea animals are going to die thats like watching a doc on WW2 and not wanting to see any violence
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
If there was, it would be PG or PG-13 depends how graphic the killings are. The Last Lions was PG for that reason. Although there's none in the movie. That's why it's G.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
of course some but they cut away quicker than usual
don't miss such stunning footage just for fear of that!
it's grand on the big screen and for those who have been there it really brings you back again, spectacular!

Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Thanks for your thoughts. I met a Maasai Warrior quite a few years ago through church, and have had a love for the people of Kenya since. I would love to see the animals in their natural habitat, but would also love to get close enough for contact. Maybe a petting zoo is closer to reality for the contact.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
do any of the cats die at the end?
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
watch and find out
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
That's my question too. I don't want to see this movie if any animals are killed. From all the posts, no man kills any animals, but since it's nature, I think some of that is shown between the animals. Still questioning watch the movie.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Lol, i love people complaining about watching a movie because ANIMALS ARE KILLING EACH OTHER. What the hell are they supposed to do? go out and buy food? You now they have to kill to eat, so stop being blind to the reality and deal with it. I get mad at my mom everytime she mentions something like this, its just pathetic. I hope you dont watch action, thriller or horror movies where humans kills each other, because if you are, you are being a hypocrite.

Check out the review of African Cats on the Kids-In-Mind website - http://www.kids-in-mind.com/a/africancats.htm
The website gives detail about how much sex, violence and bad language is in the movies - rated on a scale of 1-10.
I checked it out before my daughter and I went, so she was prepared for some of the sadder events that took place.
It's like looking into an obnoxious little mirror, isn't it?

Thank you for the link.
Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Check out the Nat Geo film 'Eternal Enemies' Lions and Hyenas. Plenty of good kills in that and blood everywhere.
What you have to remember is you are not watching a horror film. The animals are killing out of innocence to survive.

Re: Is there any animals hunting and killing others in the movie?
Oh my god! Y'all parents raised a bunch of pussies. Nature is nature, it's instinctual and naturalhence the word nature. If you don't want to see any NATURAL hunting by NATURE, go stare at a blank wall, don't ever go into the forest, or even outside. Do you cry when a frog eats a fly? Do you cry when YOU kill a fly? I bet your houses are just infested with insects because you don't want to hurt the insects feelings by kicking it out.
