Did the automaton draw the whole picture by winding it up only once?

Come on, Hugo rotated the lever like three times, and that was enough to finish the whole drawing? Based on the speed it started to draw, it should have take about an hour to finish.

I just thought there was an apparent artistic license time-compression. There were a number of instances of artistic license, as when the two kids are looking down on the Eiffel Tower like they were flying over it, and the magical way that the Mlis sketches flew out of the box and filled the room.
