Step Brothers : Surprised they didn't try to ruin with sequel(s)

I loved this movie, and when watching it thought (Hope they don't ruin with sequel) and they haven't.

When the production company, I think Apatow or may be a mix of a few, originally turned down the sequel to Anchorman Ferrell and McKay wrote a sequel to Step Brothers and the studio was going to make that but then they ended up cancelling a Vince Vaughn movie and decided to replace it with Anchorman 2. I do not know if that is just putting a Step Brothers sequel on hold, or if they decided to abandon it when Anchorman got green lit.
Wait a minute who's that at the door? IT'S SECRATARIAT!!!!

I would be very surprised if that sequel didn't end up happening after Anchorman 2. Step Brothers wasn't the hugest box office success in the world, but it's found great life on home video, and is one of those films that is seemingly quoted/referenced by everyone. I think a sequel would be guaranteed success if they managed to keep the budget low. I guess it all depends on how Anchorman 2 fares, eh?

Maybe a rival pair of step siblings to feud with Will and John.

I dont know, I cant see it, Will and John have such an amazing connection it will be hard for anyone else to get laughs.

Maybe a Christmas movie would work? I can see that going well, you could have other family members who arrive for the holidays and they can be cameos by other comedians.

oh damn a step brothers christmas movie could end up being better than xmas vacation if they did it right. GAWD that's a great idea, especially after seeing the horrible sweater family pictures they did to promote the movie.

I cant see why it would never happen, they just need to wait until the right time.
