Inkheart : Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Isn't there something similar to this!!!

I dnt knw whether im trippin or is there another movie that is similar to this. Instead of having someone to read it out, i swear i remember a movie where the main character rite something a in book and it comes true. I cant remember what is called or who plays it. Or maybe im just trippin

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Maybe the film mentioned in the thread 'Much better than Bedtime Stories' ?

I just like putting things under spoiler shields. Sorry.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

a lot of movie come it with doubles; antz and bugs life, 23 and stranger than ficion, illusionist and prestige, twighlight and let the right one in, stardust and enchanted..... and literally hundreds more that i can't name off the top of my head. there use to be a list of all movie double that come out at same time here on IMDB but i cant find it. if anyone knows what im talking about put up a link. it some kind of marketing strategy so that they can target a larger demographic with two different movies with similar concepts.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

@tim cantebury - you did not just compare twilight to let the right one in. ltroi was a brilliant blend of storytelling and ambiance, twilight was a bunch of sparkly vampires. it would have been more fitting to compare twilight to dawson's creek. I do agree, however, with much of your assessment, it's just bad timing that Inkheart came out around the same time as Bedtime Stories

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Some of it could be that's just what people are interested in at the time. Some could also be deliberate ripping off. There's also new technology to consider. Like someone invents a new film-making technique and everyone wants to use it, but they all use it the same way.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

You might be thinking of the Butterfly Effect, in which the main character is the opposite of Mo--he writes things down and they come true.

Then again, you might just be trippin.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

No he doesn't, in the Butterfly Effect he time travels back to events he blacked out of when he re-reads the reportage in his diary... Have you not seen the film?

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

There's also Monkeybone, about a cartoonist (Brendan Fraser) whose character comes to life.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

never ending story

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories
That's what I though I was going to see.

Is this the signature or still part of the post?

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

The Pagemaster?

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

The Thursday Next books by FFord are very simmilar but they have not been made into a movie yet.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Pagemaster also came to my mind

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

I think you're thinking of Stranger Than Fiction

"I miss Giles."

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

...or is there another movie that is similar to this.

The only movie I can think of that comes close is Spiderwick Chronicles, but in that one, the book comes to life completely.

But it has been a common theme in several books, so maybe that is why it seems so familiar.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Pagemaster is similar in the fact that he entes classic stories but it came out a while ago.

It's funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

When I first saw the preview I immediately thought of The Spider wick Cronicals

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Well, there's an anime called Princess Tutu, and one of the characters can write things and then they happen. Maybe you're thinking of that?

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

In an episode of Xena: Warrior Princess Aphrodite enchants Gabrielle's scroll so that everything she writes come true. Very entertaining episode.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Never ending Story?

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

That happened in an episode of The X-Files too, I believe.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

There's a lot of animes with a similar plot. Also, a video game called Myst. The idea of the written word creating worlds is as old as, well, the written word.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

I don't know what particular movie you're thinking of, but there are plenty of things similar to this. When the author met his characters, it made me think of Stranger Than Fiction, lmao.

Big Gay Al, it has recently come to our attention that you are gay.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

For those of us old enough to remember, everything about the basic concept of this film just screams 'Neverending Story' rip-off!

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Are you talking about Butterfly Effect? He writes stuff in a diary and it happens and some trippy shiz

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Jumanji is like this but replace book with board game, someone goes in, and someone comes out.

Re: Isn't there something similar to this!!!

Jumanji the much better film to.
Saw Ink last night it was OK but not great I gave it 5 out of 10.
Though this did look really nice in HD on 50 inch TV.
