Is O.J. Innocent? The Missing Evidence : I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was annoying

I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was annoying

His hatred got worse as each episode continued and it was all unwarranted. And in the end when they gave their conclusions, he was mad. But that was the entire point of having them run through his so-called evidence - to give their opinion whether it matched his own or not.

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was annoying

He is clearly obsessed. I'm going to guess that he is well known to Jason since the guy has been stalking him for years.

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was anno

I agree, it was unwarranted, and he comes across as very unprofessional.

His crusade has gone beyond a search for the truth, to a vendetta against Jason Simpson.

Bad enough that his dad killed his step-mom; now Jason has this nut-job to deal with.

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was anno

Agreed! Apparently, Mr. Dear is known for his radical conspiracy theories.

This show was awful and unethical. And their last minute, "Gee, Jason's timecard does prove his alibi, after all." was totally pathetic - the show's entire premise was primarily based on an erroneous assumption from the first episode.

I love ID Channel, but they REALLY missed the mark on this crap.

Yes, he truly seemed like a true nut case. Really.

Wait! Wait! Where are you going? I was gonna make Espresso!

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was anno

I don't think Bill Dear hated Jason so much. I think he had this theory, he had bought the contents of Jason's storage locker, and this documentary was a big part of the return on that investment for him.

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was anno

The creepy surveillance guy even said that he saw O.J. get out of the Bronco on Bundy and came back 5 minutes later wearing shortsO.J. NOT Jason. Yet Bill Dear still insists that Jason was the one who killed Ron and Nicole.

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was annoying

I totally agree! He was irrational and angry at the end. Even though both of them thoroughly explained why they felt he wasn't the murderer, he acted as though they didn't have credible reasons or evidence. He seems like a crazy old man with an agenda.

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was anno

He came across like an overzealous madman.

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was anno

I didn't get an impression of any hatred towards Jason Simpson as a person.

My impression was that, for Dear, Jason being guilty was his One Big Idea he's been pushing it long enough and he was a bit frustrated that other people didn't seem to see it as the profound insight into the murders he himself sees it as.

It wasn't until the closing credits of the last episode that I noticed Bill Dear produced this thing, based on his own book.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

That's what I think too. It's not that he personally hates Jason, it's just that he has a lot invested in this idea. And I didn't know before your post that he has written a book on it, although I can't say I'm surprised.

Yes, it's called "O.J. Is Innocent and I Can Prove It".

Re: I came to hate Bill Dear…his unwarranted hatred for Jason was anno

Yes, it was. I actually read that book and it was a lot of thin "evidence" to start with. The fact that Dear has spent the last 23 years on this one theory should tell everyone a lot about him. He's got a lot invested and an obsession. I also had NO impression that this series and the new investigation will change his mind. Whether he hates Jason Simpson is almost irrelevant, he's been stalking the guy for 20-some years, going through his garbage, and following him. If I were Jason I would have had this guy arrested years ago.

I agree that Dear's theory doesn't hold water, and that's putting it kindly. But:

Ever hear of a guy named Howard Donahue? He was a ballistics specialist who spent decades of his life on a theory he had about the Kennedy assassination, it was detailed in the book Mortal Error. It's a bit outside the box, but of all the Kennedy conspiracy theories I've heard, that one seems the most plausible. I mean, probably it was Oswald alone who killed Kennedy, but Donahue's theory is pretty solid.

Point is, just because he spent 23 years following his theory isn't necessarily bad. But in Dear's case.. yeah.

I think it's impossible to tell from this show, because everything was presented so poorly (with the possible exception of the limo driver segment) and the "investigation" at a social media level of thinking.

Perhaps I'll read the book anyway. Skim it, at least.

I read that book Makes the most sense, and he just presented it so professionally and with a lot of solid facts to back it up And the subjects mentioned as the principles in the book have never come out and actually said he was wrong Donahue had his research and investigation in high gear when he said there was some way to get to the bottom of it all, he started at the beginning and reviewed the evidence, and then simply put it on the table and said 'you decide' Brilliant maneuver, makes him seem more like a true detective than a shill with one piece of questionable, weak evidence And the book wasn't even written by him, rather by someone who saw the theory and had it printed excellent journalism

Glad you read it. I've never heard anybody punch any real holes in his theory either. I don't know if his version is correct, but it's really well put together.

The part that got me was he had pinpointed exactly where the shot had come from, and he knew what kind of rifle had fired it. But it wasn't until ten years later that a picture finally surfaced of the rifle, which was the same type he had said, being held by the man in the exact spot he had predicted. Pretty freaky.
