A Series of Unfortunate Events : How old are you?

How old are you?

How old are you now and, if you've read the books, how old were you the first time you read them?

If you've not read the books, what drew you into the show?

I am 22 now and didn't discover the books until I was 12, thanks to the school library. I just reread them before the show came out and really enjoyed them, being able to recognize all of the allusions this time around was just fun.

Re: How old are you?

I am 21 now. I started reading the books at age 9. I didn't finish the series but I read a bunch of the books.

Re: How old are you?

I'm 39. I was about 25 when I started reading the series, and have one book to gomy excuse: we moved 1000 miles and I've had two babies since then. I've been reading he series to our son, who is 9. He loves it as much as I do.

Re: How old are you?

That's awesome. I look forward to reading them to my sister's children someday (since I don't plan on having any).

Love your username, by the way.

Re: How old are you?

25 now. Started them when I was about 12 myself. Finished them for the first time the weekend The End came out and didn't read the Beatrice Diaries (kinda want to now) so now I'm gonna reread them all

Re: How old are you?

I'm kind of tempted to read the Beatrice Diaries now, too.

Re: How old are you?

I had no idea it came out until years later and when I looked things up online about it, it sounded like it gave some answers to substantial things.

Re: How old are you?

I'm 26, huge fan of the books and loved this series. I read the books as they came out and followed them all the way through to the end with all the crazy fan theories. I like the movie quite a bit, but it doesn't come close to the books in any way.

Re: How old are you?

I always enjoyed the movie. I think the acting was great and The Wide Window was done well.

Re: How old are you?

The movie's great for what it is.

Re: How old are you?

I'm 30. I read the books at about age 18-20 when I was training to be a teacher.

Re: How old are you?

That's awesome. What grade do you teach?

Re: How old are you?

I am 23, turn 24 on February 2, and started reading the books around 9 years old.

Re: How old are you?

Happy early birthday to you, Mary!

Re: How old are you?

I am 25. I have to admit I actually saw the movie first, and hadn't heard of the books. The reason I watched the film as I was a fan of Jim Carrey, and after watching the film I found out there was a book series so began collecting them. But I haven't read the series for a while (due to moving onto other things) but the film still had a special place with me (despite the mixed reception online about it). I got drawn to the show as I was happy to finally see the other works being adapted, and think that doing a Netflix series is the best way to come about it. I am tempted now to revisit the books.

Re: How old are you?

I suggest giving them the revisit, it's quite fun to pick out all the easter eggs from all the books.

Re: How old are you?

I'm 26 years old (January 25th was my birthday), and I started reading the books when I was 13. In case anyone reading this doesn't feel like doing math, I started reading the books a few months before the movie came out.
I stopped reading midway through The Carnivorous Carnival, although I own the entire series. I'm not sure why I lost interest; I think it was because I grew up on Disney movies and it was difficult for me to handle all the depressing *beep* the Baudelaires go through.

Re: How old are you?

Happy belated birthday!

Nothing like Disney to balance out the unfortunate, aye?

Re: How old are you?

34, and I read the books a few years ago. I thought they were..okay. Not bad, not the greatest, just okay.

I really enjoyed this series though.

Re: How old are you?

I've quite enjoyed it too. I think Netflix has done the series justice.
